Harry Eugene Todd Sr.
COLUMBIA — Harry Eugene Todd Sr., 82, of Clifton City, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the University Med Center in Columbia as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. He was one of 16 children born to William Sherman and Agnes Todd in Clifton City, Missouri.
Harry moved to Independence, Missouri and began working at Armco Steel when he was 18 years of age retiring after 32 years of employment with the company. He and Ernestine were married June 21, 1953 and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past summer. Upon retirement they moved back to Clifton City where he was active serving with the Clifton City Volunteer Fire Department and as a 1st responder, and was a volunteer on the Katy Trail.
Harry enjoyed his retirement years by gardening, woodworking, collecting toys, marbles, and antique tools, attending auctions, fishing, and "aggravating Grandma".
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bernie, Edgar, William and Claude Todd; sisters Mable Harlan, Sylvia Hassler, Fern Tavner, and Gladys Rector; and 3 infant siblings.
Harry is survived by his wife Ernestine of the home; daughter Melinda Daniel and her husband Garry of Kansas City, MO; sons Harry Todd, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Cheyenne Todd and his wife Angela each of Independence, Missouri; brothers Norman Todd and his wife Rosie in Independence, Theodore Todd and his wife Darlene of Grain Valley; sisters Myrtle Hanning of Otterville, Medora Stroup of Nelson; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville with burial to follow in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
