John Bohon Obituary
2025, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center. He was born February 3, 1938, in
Sedalia, the son of Cecil W. Bohon Sr. and Florence L. (Finkland) Bohon, who preceded
him in death.
John was a proud member of the Smith-Cotton High School Class of 1956. Following
graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably from 1956
to 1958. He went on to dedicate 30 years of service to United Parcel Service, retiring in the
early 1980s.
A man of faith and community, John was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in
Boonville and Granite Lodge 272 AF & AM in Sedalia.
In retirement, John found joy in working as a silversmith, crafting and selling jewelry at
local craft fairs. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, often found watching wildlife
around his country home or fishing along the Lamine River with his grandson, Levi.
Known for his skill at the grill, John took pride in his barbecuing - especially his famous
teriyaki wings, ribs, and homemade steak rubs.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra L. Meyers of Boonville, MO, and Dana E. Bohon
(Robert Esser) of Sedalia; nine grandchildren, Katelyn Meyers, Charlie Meyers, Jay
Meyers, Kurt Hawley, Nick O'Neil, Rebecca Krouse, Chet Krouse, Duke Krouse, and Levi
Ross; a step-son, Bryan Ross; a step-grandson, Riley Ross; nine great-grandchildren; and a
niece, Cheryl Dieckman.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Rupe; brother,
Cecil W. Bohon Jr.; and step-daughter, Tonia Ross.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, at Calvary Episcopal
Church, Sedalia, with Mother Ann Kyle officiating.
Inurnment will be at Christ Episcopal Church, Boonville, MO at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June
15, 2025, with the inurnment as the conclusion of worship. Christ Episcopal Church, 524
4th Street, Boonville, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Episcopal Church in Sedalia or Christ
Episcopal Church in Boonville, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
