John David Husong, 51, of Sedalia, went home to his Heavenly Father Saturday, January 29, 2022.
Born March 17, 1970, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, to the proud parents of James Husong and Connie McLaughlin. He graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1988, where he devoted most of his time to schoolwork, working multiple jobs, sports, and Karate class. He proceeded on to MidAmerica Nazarene University where he graduated with his Bachelor's in Business Management. John was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he spent many Sunday mornings in worship. In his early adulthood, he worked for the Center for Human Services, with special needs adults and respite care. He then went on to spend most of his life working with his brother, Jimmy, in the car business, doing sales, finance, and insurance, finalizing his career at W-K Chevrolet.
Surviving are his wife, Marcy, of Sedalia; Daughter, Taylor (Sheldon), of Windsor; Granddaughter, Andie Sage, of Windsor; and parents, James Husong and Connie McLaughlin, of Sedalia, and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his son, John Luke Husong, his brother, James (Andrea) Husong, step-father, Bill McLaughlin, cousin, Derek Moriarty, and many other special family members.
John enjoyed any outdoor endeavor, especially if it consisted of ATV'S, hunting, exploring the woods, and fishing. He grew up on the Spry Family Farm, dedicating many early mornings and long nights to helping on the farm and hunting. John began his endeavor in Mixed-Martial Arts in his early twenties. He was locally known as the Heavy-Weight Champ. He trained twice a day for many years, and eventually achieved his black belt in Tae Kwon-Do and Tang Soo Do. He had attained many other ranked-belts along his journey. John enjoyed watching every pay-per-view UFC fight alongside his wife and children. Besides his passion for sports and outdoors, he was a devout family man. He loved nothing more than staying in, next to the fire, and watching a movie. He gave his life to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior at an early age, and spent his entire life studying the word of God and sharing the word with everyone he encountered. He had a deep love for loud music, his dog, Kevin, and helping others. He was an avid Powerball player and could tell a story like no other. John fought a long, hard battle with Scleroderma and Raynaud's Disease. He endured much pain and suffering in his lifetime, but he always held on to his Faith. He never gave up and continued pushing forward, against all odds and obstacles thrown his way. To know John, was to know God's love for us. We are so incredibly lucky to have learned from him and been loved by him.
A celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, February 5th, at 2:30 PM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, in Sedalia, Missouri, with Reverend Chris Guffey officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Warsaw to follow. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022 at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Memorial donations are suggested to Mercy Rest Stop, the Bothwell Foundation, or a
charity of the donor's choice in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
The family of John would like to extend their greatest gratitude to Bothwell Hospital for the outstanding care he had received so many times during his stays. A special thank you to Dr. Kenneth Azan, Dr. William Woolery, Dr. Dan Woolery, Dr. Kelly Edwards, and Dr. Krista Boyd for going above and beyond with the service they provided him.
