Marianne Carl Obituary

Marianne Keens Carl 85 passed away in Oxnard, California, September 2, 2025. Her
funeral will be at 11:30 October 4, in Sacred Heart Church in Sedalia, followed by inurnment at
Crown Hill Cemetery.
Marianne was born July 7, 1940, in Sedalia, Missouri, to parents Harvey Lamm and Ruth
Ann Archias Keens. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and High School, graduating in
the Class of 1958, and went on to The University of Missouri, majoring in elementary education
and joining the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
After graduating in 1962, she taught in the public school system in Port Hueneme,
California. Beginning in 1964, she taught two years at a United States Air force base in England.
She was married in 1967 at Sacred Heart Church, and, except for few years living in Australia
where her daughter Katrina (Tina) was born, lived in Oxnard, California, teaching in the Oxnard
Public Schools.
She loved coming back to Sedalia to visit relatives and classmates, to attend the annual
Scott Joplin Festivals, to tour central Missouri again, and to take nostalgic visits to her beloved
Lake of the Ozarks.
Marianne leaves behind her daughter Katrina Carl (Josh Cohen), her brother Leon Keens,
and sister Susan (Michael) Traylor, and her beloved dog Snickerdoodle.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation to the Humane Society of Ventura
County (402 Bryant Street, Ojai, CA 930023 or www.hsvc.org).
