Ransom Ray Obituary

Ransom Ryan Ray, 41, of Centerview, MO, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on February 21, 1984, in Nevada, MO, the son of Russell Ryan Ray, who preceded him in death, and Brenda Dawn (Myears) Ray, who resides in Centerview, MO.
Ransom was united in marriage to Julie Summers, who resides in Lee's Summit, MO.
Ransom grew up in Smithton, MO, and was baptized at the Blackwater Church of Christ. He was a proud graduate of Smithton High School, Class of 2002. Ransom was a family-oriented man with a great sense of humor and a generous heart.
Right out of high school, Ransom made the honorable decision to enlist in the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully from 2001 until 2007. During his service, he was deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006 to 2007. After completing his military service, Ransom continued his dedication to helping others through his work in the medical field as an MRI Client Success Leader for GE Healthcare.
Ransom loved spending his free time with those he cared about most especially his son, Lincoln. He was a devoted and proud father who never missed an opportunity to cheer Lincoln on at swim meets and soccer games. To everyone who knew him, Ransom was an amazing son, brother, father, uncle, and friend whose laughter and kindness will be deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, Ransom is survived by his son, Lincoln Ray; his sister, Tara David (Justin) of Smithton; a nephew, Austin David; a niece, Ella David; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lloyd Myears, and his paternal grandparents, Dale and Mary Beth (Anderson) Ray.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Minister Daryl Parsons officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
The burial will be at a later date in Hickory Point Cemetery, Green Ridge, MO.
Honorary bearers will be Chris Mark, Ryan Swope, and Thomas Cook.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brenda Ray for the establishment of an educational fund for his son, Lincoln Ray, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
