Steven Goss Obituary

Steven Richard Goss, 48, of rural Mora, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at his home. He was born on September 25, 1962, at Sedalia, a son of Richard Eugene Goss and Lucy (Rugen) Akeman.

On October 7, 1962, he was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Springfork, and was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, Bahner. In 1980, he graduated from Benton County R-1 High School in Cole Camp and then for the next 18 months, attended Lex La Ray Technical School in Lexington.

On April 13, 1985, in Olathe, KS, he was united in marriage to Lisa Renee Weaver, who survives of the home.

Steven was part owner of Neat Tooling Solutions, Inc. of Sedalia, where he was a tool and die maker. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, spending time on his farm and taking care of his cattle, working in his garage and fixing cars, hunting, canoeing, and being outdoors. His philosophy was, "If you don't know, get a book and to always have a plan."

He is survived by: his mother, Lucy Akeman of Windsor; his father, Richard Goss of rural Sedalia; one daughter, Ashley Goss of Mora; one son, Jeremy Goss and his wife Laura of Warrensburg; one brother, Allen Goss of Sedalia; one sister, Carla Lucchesi and her husband Jeff of Sedalia; and one half-sister, Regina Goss of Lee's Summit.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Ann Goss in 1966.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sedalia, with Father Joe Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Bahner.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sedalia.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Bothwell Cancer Center, Pettis County Hospice, or St. John's Catholic Cemetery in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Dan Brant, Ivan Chernookiy, Don Beyer, John Shipman, Jaron Lucchesi, Dakota Talley, and Joe Rehmer.
