Marlene M. Daubel, 79, of Fremont passed away Wednesday, March 4. 2026 at her residence. She was born October 24, 1946 in Fremont, the daughter of Clemens and Annarose (Spieldenner) Szymanowski.
She was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph High and went on to graduate from Madonna University in 1968. She was a jewelry designer for Harvey Oaks Jeweler.
On December 20, 1969 she married Philip F. Daubel at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marlene was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She loved art and interior decorating.
Surviving is her husband, Philip of Fremont, previous owner of Columbus Messenger for 50 years; son, Paul F. (Jennifer Damschroder) Daubel; grandson, Preston Daubel; siblings, Ruthann (Richard) Rectenwald, John (Pat) Szymanowski; sister- in-law, Anita Szymanowski. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Steven Szymanowski.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH . Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. with Fr. Matthew Frisbee officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Marlene was a wonderful friend and neighbor as we grew up together. She married my classmate
Phil Daubel. It’s very sad to hear of her passing away, may she rest in peace AMEN
