CYGNET -- Doris I. Long, age 92, of Cygnet, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Birchaven Village in Findlay. She was born on April 3, 1931, in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Leland & Mildred (Slaughterbeck) Stubbins. Doris married Russell C. Long on October 25, 1950, and he preceded her in passing on May 29, 2003.
Surviving Doris are her children, Russell Long of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Mowrey of Cygnet, Pamela (Chuck) Deckler of Iowa, Marsha Smith of Detroit; sister, Nancy Myers of Cygnet; grandchildren, Tanya Wegner, Jason (Mandy) Deckler, Joel (Tara) Mowrey, Kristen (Sam) Busching, Elysa Smith, Andrew Long, Michelle (Shane) Camp, Justin Smith; great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Josephine, Kaitlyn, Emma, Claire, Joslyn, Jof, and Luke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland & Mildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Long; brothers, Fred Stubbins, Harry Stubbins; and sisters, Ruth Instone, Mary Vollmar, and JoAnn Campbell.
Doris was a 1949 graduate of Cygnet High School, and then worked at Honeywell for 33 years as an Operator/Assembler. She was a member of the UAW Local 533 in Fostoria, a member of the Bright Road Church of Christ in Findlay, and had a passion for gardening and walking. Her greatest love in life though, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 11 AM with Pastor Wade Tannehill officiating. Burial will be at Jerry City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Bright Road Church of Christ in Findlay. Online condolences can be sent to Doris' family at www.barndtfuneralhome.org.
