PEMBERVILLE -- Forrest "Red" Keith Philo, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Otterbein in Pemberville. He was 89 years old. He was born to Margret E. (Forrester) & Carrol W. Philo on January 4, 1936 on Dunipace Road where he would live a majority of his life.
Red graduated from Webster School in 1954, where he was active in basketball, baseball, and editor of The Web. On September 17, 1955 he married Patricia E Gamby of Perrysburg, she preceded him in death. During their 50 years of marriage, they welcomed and raised three children while being a dedicated farmer. He was also a licensed auctioneer, and a handy woodworker often making crafts and purchases at auction for Philo's Antiques.
On June 6, 2009 Red reconnected with his first, true love, Marilyn (Ward) Starkey. Together they spent almost 17 wonderful years together, traveling, making memories, laughing, and enjoying basketball.
Red was the most generous man, with the biggest heart. He spent his time talking farming, participating in auctions, and helping those around him. He took great pride in his eBay shop, which recently celebrated 25 years of operation. His greatest joys were those he loved, and making everyone he met smile. In his later years, he found enjoyment and pride in making and sharing marble boards.
Left to cherish his memory are his true love, Marilyn Starkey, daughters Vicky Sorgenfrei and Pamela (Mike) Metzger, son Kevin (Connie) Philo, bonus children Bill (Linda) Starkey, Duane Starkey, Keith Starkey, Kirk (Robin) Starkey, and Brenda (Dave) Schnitker. He also leaves behind grandchildren Mitchell (Bonnie) Bailey, Shawn Bailey, Crista (Michael) Leady, Nicole (Corey) Bettenbrock, Michelle (Nikko) Turos, Travis (Allie) Philo, Tyler (Savana) Philo, Troy Philo and numerous bonus grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia E. Philo, his mother and father, Margaret Edith Schroeder and Carrol W Philo, bonus son Mick Starkey, and great grandson Mason Bettenbrock.
