NORTH BALTIMORE -- Franklin Hemminger, 80, of North Baltimore, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He was born on March 29, 1945, in Fostoria to the late Lester and Rita (Welly) Hemminger. He married Karen Merrill on October 12, 1963, and she survives.
Frank is also survived by a son, Scott Hemminger of McComb; daughter, Amy (Humpy) Flores of North Baltimore; grandchildren: Matt (Natasha) Woodruff, Chelsey (Devin Thomas) Woodruff, Nora (Tyler) Parker and Shaye (Logan Kepling) Hemminger; great-grandchildren: Conner Hibbard, Carlee Woodruff, Connor Woodruff, Easton Woodruff, Lillian Woodruff, Tynlee Parker and Daxton Parker; sisters: Evelyn Snyder, Virginia Kramer, Dolly (Charles) Porter, Katherine (Dave) Kuhlman, Carol Allison; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles "Sonnie" Hemminger.
Frank was a 1963 graduate of North Baltimore High School. He retired after 34 years as a Brick Mason, and was a member of Union Construction Workers Local. He enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren with home improvement projects. Frank enjoyed the many trips to the Smoky Mountains over the years, camping, and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. He had a love for all dogs.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Wood County Hospital ICU Unit and the team of Physicians and Nurses who provided excellent care as well as the Emergency Room staff and all others who also provided outstanding care.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wood County Humane Society and/or Wood County Hospital ICU Unit.
