LUCKEY -- John S. Jacobs, 84 of Luckey, passed away at home On June 17, 2025 with his family near his side. He was born on June 8, 1941 in Toledo to Samuel A. and Margaret E. (Swartz) Jacobs. On September 1, 1963 John married the love of his life, the girl next door, Nancy Emmitt, in Luckey, OH. John and Nancy raised three children, and have celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage together.
In addition to being a lifelong farmer, John, also drove trucks for 30 plus years. First for Suburban Motor Freight, then for Churchill Trucking both out of Toledo. He also worked as a custodian for the Pemberville Public Library for 10 plus years. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, and the Teamsters. He enjoyed the outdoors, sitting in the sun, arrowhead hunting, gardening, taking in nature, doing puzzles, traveling and woodworking. However, his favorite joy was spending time with all of his family.
In addition to his wife Nancy, John is survived by his children: Jennifer (James Hughes) LeBar of Luckey, Samuel John (Kellie Borcherding) Jacobs of Luckey, and Katherine (Frank) Barrow II of Luckey. Grandchildren: Brandon, Marissa (Jay), Kirsten (Michael), Frank III, Chelsea (Jake), Annika (Jake), Michaela, and Kieseon (Kim). Great-grandchildren: Amie, Emma, Axton, Auggie, Robert, Chanell, Jamison, Colten, Kameron, and Faelynn. Sister; Grace Stinchcomb of Pemberville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received 9-11 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 with a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Faith United Methodist Church 111 Main St. Luckey, Ohio. Officiating will be, Rev. Peter Johnston. Family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: Faith United Methodist Church.
John will be laid to rest at Troy Township Cemetery at a future date.
