Jack Sherrard Obituary

Jack T. Sherrard of Shelby County, 82, died April 17, 2013 at Okeechobee, Florida. He was born in Elizabethtown, KY and lived in Simpsonville for the last 46 years. He worked alongside his father and brother as a federal meat inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement. He attended Shelbyville High School where he played football and received a football scholarship to attend Georgetown University before joining the Air Force and served during the Korean War. He loved to travel with his family and visited all but one state during his travels. He was a member of the Simpsonville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children, Janet (John) Malisch, Steven (Patricia) Sherrard, Amy (Robert) Mackey, sister Betty (Charles) Turner, brother Bill (Betty) Sherrard, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and loving companion Blanche Bishop. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty Rawlings Sherrard and his parents, Charles Hilary and Bessie Sherrard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Simpsonville United Methodist Church. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 3 pm on April 28 at the Simpsonville United Methodist Church, 107 1st Street, Simpsonville, KY. Internment will be at a later date.
