James Renfro Obituary

James L. "Jimmy" Renfro, 90, of Simpsonville, died on Saturday, the 31st day of December, 2022, at his residence. Born in Bagdad, Kentucky on the 27th day of August in 1932, he was the son of the late Walter and Bertha Roberts Renfro, and the widower of Anna Jean Perry Renfro. He was a member of the Simpsonville Baptist Church. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U. S. Army for two years, and he was a retired employee of General Electric in Louisville. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time and later during his retirement, he was active playing golf, fishing, and watching University of Kentucky Wildcats sports. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Renfro, his sister, Annette Renfro Floyd, and his son-in-law, Donald Ashby.

His survivors include his daughter, Stacy Ashby of Shelbyville; his sons, Timothy Renfro and his wife, Jill, of Shelbyville, and Bradley Renfro and his wife, Julie, of Simpsonville; his grandchildren, Jaime Jones, Ryan Renfro, Hannah Renfro, Josh Stauffer, Haylee Renfro, Maggie Renfro, and Allie Renfro; and his great-granddaughter, Skylar Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, the 7th day of January, 2023, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with the Reverend Steve Boyd officiating. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., on Friday, the 6th day of January, 2023, and from 11:00 A.M., until 12:45 P.M., on Saturday, the 7th day of January, 2023, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, and expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Simpsonville Baptist Church, Post Office Box 56, Simpsonville, Kentucky 40067. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville and condolences may be expressed at www.halltaylorfuneralhomes.com.
