James Wilson Obituary

James M. "Tank" Wilson, 58 of Shelbyville, Kentucky passed from this life unexpectedly after a courageous battle with the Corona-virus on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Jewish Hospital of Shelbyville.
He was born on March 9, 1968 in Shelbyville, son of James Lewis of Louisville and the late Emily A. Wilson. Though his name of James, he was afforded a couple of nicknames such as "Jamie" and or "Tank". By those whom he loved and cherished. He was a 1986 graduate of Shelby County High School. "Tank" was an innovative and creative person who enjoyed spending time and caring for his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the sport of basketball and was an avid U of L Basketball fan. "Tank" would spend his days, socializing in the community of Martinsville. It seemed to be a place that brought him peace and contentment. As a young boy, He was a member of Clay Street Baptist Church. "Tank" was a loving, kind-hearted and generous person and always had a radiant smile. He will certainly be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
Along with his mother; Emily A. Wilson, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Elmore Wilson Sr and Evelyn Jackson Wilson, paternal grandparents; Emmitt Lewis and Isabella Beach, his brothers; Tyrone Wilson (In fancy), Dale Adrian Kennedy, Brian Keith Kennedy, and Stevon Lewis, three nephews; Dewayne Marshall, Keith Marshall, Deon Kennedy, aunts; Lacy Wilson, Brenda Wilson and Lilly Jones, uncles; Rev. Elmore Wilson, Jr., and Lucien Hunter,
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his father; James Lewis of Louisville, two brothers; George Wilson of Louisville and Christopher Wilson of Shelbyville, three sisters; Canidy (Thomas) Barnett of Frankfort, Shauna (Adaryll) Le Grant of Pensacola, Florida, and Jacqueline Lewis of Louisville, maternal uncles; Sherman Wilson and Greg (Marla) Hunter of Shelbyville, maternal aunts; Sylvia (Thomas) Marshall, Sr., of Shelbyville, Barbara L. Wilson and Mary E. (Leon) Benson of Louisville, and Bernice (Eric) Barnes of Somerset, paternal uncle; Jerry Beach of Louisville, and two paternal aunts; Lydia Jones of Frankfort and Linda Beach of New Albany, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Clay Street Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm at the Church with Pastor Larry Sykes and Pastor Justin Barnes officiating, Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. The active pallbearers will be; Dhamon Harris, Letrivion Kennedy, Jaden Wilson, Re'Shae Barnes, Donovan Kennedy and Barry Cardwell. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers are; Thomas Marshall, Jr., Dana Patterson, Fredrick Wilson, Alvin Dale. Max Jackson and Mark Bradford.
