Miner Bottom Obituary

Miner Paul Preach Bottom, age 91, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was the son of the late Rev. Miner Bottom and Myra Paul Bottom. He was a former deacon of Shelbyville First Christian Church and most recently attended Shelby Christian Church.
He retired from Commonwealth Bank and continued to work part time at the FAC for 10 years. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, a past president of Kiwanis, an avid UK fan and golfer, and was a regular coffee attendee at Dairy Queen Liars Club.
He was preceded in death by sister, Nancy McClain.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Bottom Waits (Charles) of Shelbyville; son, Ronnie Bottom (Patty) of Elmburg; and nephew, Steve McClain. His real joy and pride were his grandchildren, Kelly Waits, Zachary Waits, Chris Waits, Emily Bottom, and Madelyn Bottom.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 11 a.m. till time of service on Thursday. Burial is at Grove Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to your charity of choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Amber Oaks and the members of Shelby Christian Church and Dover Baptist Church.
