Richard Meadows Obituary

Richard "Rick" Meadows of Shelbyville, KY was born on November 3, 1948 in Carrollton, KY and left for his heavenly home on May 15, 2021, surrounded by his family. He spent the last 40 years married to his loving wife June Meadows, in Shelbyville where they built their family. Known as Rick, Rickey, Dad, Grandpa and RahRah; his departure has left a hole in the hearts of all that have known and loved him.
Outside of his family Rick loved his work. He spent 35 years with Winn-Dixie over Maintenance and Construction for Midwest Winn-Dixie, serving and traveling a 5 state area. After his time with Winn-Dixie he spent the last 15 years with Hussmann as a Field Equipment Representative. His irreplaceable work ethic and endless encyclopedia of knowledge paired with his selfless attitude and loving character will never be matched.
Rick was a master of just about everything, giving him the title of "Mr Fix-it" to friends, family and coworkers. If he couldn't fix it, no one could. He always had a project in the works and was constantly researching, drawing blueprints and planning every detail of his next vision. He had a passion for all aspects of construction and enjoyed carpentry.
Rick served in the Army National Guard as Military Police and also earned recognition as a Kentucky Colonel.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Rose Meadows, and brother Kevin Meadows. He survived by his wife, June Meadows, six children, Ricky Meadows Jr (Lisa), Lee Meadows (Cara), Chris Welch (Jennifer), Robbie Welch, Jennifer Meadows and Ashley Miller (Powell) and 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Kaelin, Kennedy and Nicklas Welch, Carly, Meredith and Ava Welch, Chandler Meadows, Lauren, Nolan and Easton Meadows and Aiden and Alex Miller as well as his brother Rodney Meadows and sister-in-law Connie Meadows.
Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Shannon Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at Grove Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus, P. O. Box 35425, Louisville, KY 40232.
