Robert E. "Bob" Purnell Sr.

Robert E. "Bob" Purnell, Sr., age 91, of Louisville, formerly of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, in Louisville. He was a partner with Purnell's Sausage Company in Simpsonville. He was a member of the Shelbyville First Baptist Church. He had loved singing as a member of the Thoroughbred Chorus. As one who loved golf, he was a lifetime member of the Shelbyville Country Club and a member of the Harmony Landing Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Bain Purnell, Sr. and Clara Bridges Purnell and his brother, Fred Bain Purnell, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jane Maydwell Purnell of Louisville; his daughters, Rhonda Purnell of Louisville and Pam Montgomery (Steve), of Elizabethtown; his son, Rob Purnell of Simpsonville; his brother, Allen D. Purnell of Simpsonville; his grandchildren, Taylor Sorrels, Ashton Lytle, Stephen Montgomery, Sydney Montgomery, Stewart Montgomery, Robert Purnell III and Hunter R. Purnell; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 8, 2025, at the Shannon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the Simpsonville Masonic Cemetery.
