Sue Mott, age 84, passed away on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, in Sallisaw. Born on Oct. 22, 1941, in Keota, Sue was a beloved daughter of Emma Gean (Wallace) Short and Carl Short.
Sue married the love of her life, Dail Mott, on June 4, 1958, in Stigler. Together they shared many wonderful years until Dail preceded her in death on May 23, 2020.
Throughout her life, Sue dedicated herself to her work as a bookkeeper and was an active member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where she made lasting connections within her community. She was also the treasurer of the Sallisaw Senior Center.
Sue's legacy continues through her loving family, which includes her daughter, Kimberly Zuendel of Sallisaw; her son, Christopher Mott of Spiro; nine cherished grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Bobby Short and wife, Sandra of Kibler, Ark., and Jerry Short and wife, Debbie of Magazine, Ark. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Christina Mott, as well as numerous relatives and a multitude of friends who will mourn her loss.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sue was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Larry Mott; two sisters, Rudean Radebaugh and JoAnn Sloan; and three brothers, Carlos, Shirley and Rickey Short.
A funeral service to celebrate Sue's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian. Burial will follow at Iron Bridge Cemetery in Keota, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active pallbearers will be Regan Freeman, Wes Lashley, Keith Swafford, Tommy Coleman, Ben Spyres and Gideon Spyres.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, with the family greeting visitors from 4 to 6 p.m.
Sue Mott will be remembered for her warm spirit, dedication to her family, and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
