Adam Cohen Obituary

Adam Cohen
October 3, 1962 - October 19, 2022
Adam Cohen of Oakland, CA passed away on October 19th, 2022 at the age of 60. He was born on October 3, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio. When Adam was 13, the Cohen family moved to San Francisco. He remained in the Bay Area where he was married to the late Lori Shaw, and raised his three wonderful children, Samantha, Shelby and Shayna.
Adam was a gentle soul except on the wrestling mat. He was a world and national champion at the junior level and eventually went on to become a Maccabiah Games Gold Medalist and the runner-up in the Division 1 National Championships representing Arizona State University.
Adam worked in Wealth Management for over 25 years with major Wall Street firms. Recently, Adam decided to change his career path into software sales becoming a leading producer.
Adam had a number of passions such as cooking, especially pizza, riding his electric bike with Lisa, flying drones, and playing pickleball.
Adam was a wonderful, kind, generous soul with a fun, goofy sense of humor. He loved meeting people and putting everyone he talked with at ease. He was a very loving and supportive son, father, brother, partner, and friend, he will be missed everyday.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lori Cohen, father, Julius Cohen, and brother Richard Cohen. He is survived by his three daughters Samantha, Shelby and Shayna Cohen, his mother Mitzi, brothers Jeff, Gary, Todd, and Bob, and life partner Lisa Thorne and her two children Casey and Jena Thorne.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Mt Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 Fifth Ave, San Rafael CA 94901 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to The ALS Foundation in memory of his wife, Lori.

I have just learned of Adam´s passing and I am very sad.
Lori and I went to graduate school together and we´re friends and my daughters were head over heels for the Cohen girls who they babysat for years. Adam was always such a bright light and it is heartbreaking to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences.

Adam and I were inseparable in college going to ASU, training, lifting, running, partying and studying. We lived together for 4 years in Tempe while attending Arizona State University. Adam supported my amateur and pro boxing career just as I attended all his home wrestling matches. This is a big blow for me as we were very close and had so many good times together in the 1980´s. I pray for his family and he will terribly missed by me and I am sure everyone else as well.. God Bless..

My deepest condolences to the Cohen family. I had the pleasure of wrestling and coaching the high school program that Adam started. Check out our history at riordanwrestling.org and it was always a pleasure to run into him and always wished we could spend more time together. He left behind a great influence and legacy. God Bless Vittorio Anastasio
