Adrian Nolfi Obituary

Adrian L. Nolfi 1917-2008 Adrian lost few fights in his life, but on May 8, 2008 he succumbed to his battle with chronic pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Glen Lyon, PA, Adrian spent his early childhood in Serra S'Abondio, Italy. He returned to Glen Lyon at the age of 10 speaking no English, but like most of the "Greatest Generation", Adrian worked through this and many other challenges and graduated from his beloved Penn State University with a degree in chemical engineering. Between high school and college, Adrian, an accomplished tenor, ran away to the Big Apple and performed at the Onyx Club with Stuff Smith and Coleman Hawkins, and the likes of Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald in the audience. Ultimately, his brothers dragged him back to Pennsylvania to attend college. Adrian served with distinction in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a Navy lieutenant. After the war, his cousin, Abramo Sabbatini, introduced him to Olga-the love of his life, his wife, and cooking partner of 62 years. The founder of several companies, most notably Homewood Builders LTD., Adrian was blessed with a cunning business sense. He was loved dearly by his children: Jan, Mark, and Debbie; his grandchildren: Jeff, Jennifer, Dominic, Dario, and Bianca; and his great-grandchildren: Jared and Matteo. He will be missed by all who knew him. Private Burial at the Golden Gate National Cemetery.
