Alejandro Espinosa Obituary

Alejandro Y. Espinosa
January 22, 1971 - January 20, 2023
Alejandro "Alex" Yatsutomo Espinosa, 51, a proud native San Franciscan sadly left us on January 20th unexpectedly. He is survived by wife, Amber Nolan Espinosa, daughter, Shiloh Espinosa, preceded in death by father, Alejandro Raul Espinosa (of Lima, Peru) and mother, Ruriko Minami Espinosa (of Kochi, Japan). A Washington High School Alumni, class of '89, Alex had a distinguished 19 year career with the San Francisco Sheriff's Department. Alex was also a decorated member of the Army National Guard and served as a first responder during Hurricane Katrina. Alex was a fixture surfing at Ocean Beach, Kelly's Cove, and was thrilled to share his passion for surfing with his daughter, Shiloh. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on February 2nd at St. Ignatius Church (650 Parker Ave.). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project

Omg! Brother, what happened?? I know we kinda fell out and hadn´t spoken in so many years but I was so happy for you in your new found purpose in life. I know I hadn´t always been the best friend to have but I´ll always cherish the memories I´ve had with you. I just happened to find this out completely by circumstance and I´m beside myself right now. I can only wish this was your way of telling me as I´ve not spoken to you in years. Three amazing people that I´ve happened to have the joy of having been a part of my life are now gone and there´s gonna now be this void as I´ll never have the opportunity to tell you how much deep down I´ve always loved you as a friend and a brother. You can now be with your papa,Raúl and mother, "Ruby chan."

I don´t know what happened or even what else to say. I´m just so shocked and gutted right now. It´s like a bad dream that I wish I could wake up from only I´m already awake.

My brother Alex, I love you, I never got the opportunity to tell you that. I´ll never forget you ever. You forever have a place in my life and in my heart. My best wishes for your family,Amber and Shiloh.

Your dear and loving friend,Eric Chang. :,(

My impression of Alejandro, a very humorous coworker who always made me laugh, a hard working person who always got his work done ahead of everyone else and always assisted others unconditionally. I am very proud to have the honor of working besides you Al. Please R.I.P my Brother, you are always missed in our hearts.

I was stunned and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of this bright young man. His smile and presence was always comforting to me in what could be a hostile environment for law enforcement..I´m so sorry for all of us but especially for his wife and child..may he rest in peace

I´ll always remember coming out of my dentists office on Clement street, between 18th and 19th avenue. I hear someone calling, "Sgt Tussey, Sgt Tussey". I´m looking all around and don´t see anyone on the street. I look UP and see Al hanging out the window waving to me. I say, "What are you doing up there?" He smiles and says, "I live here!". Nice story.

Attended the academy with Espinosa and he was always smiling. We worked the same facility but on different shifts but he would always say hi to me or shout out SB36! I was thinking of him the week prior to his passing and we texted for a bit to get caught up. I´m still in shock of his passing. He´s looking down upon his friends and family and not wanting us to be sad but it´s hard when you lose a great person in your life. Keep watch over us brother, we got it from here.

Someone who shared so much of life with you will forever be a part of you. I'm keeping you in my prayers as you remember Alex and all the good times you had together as a loving family.

Amber and Shiloh, Oh my gosh .. bart and i are so sorry to hear of Alex's passing. He was such a genuinely all around great guy... (we lived in the house around the corner from you that caught fire). I worked locally and he was always so pleasant when he stopped by... a true gentleman that stuck to his word.. He was loyal and charming and witty and kind. I remember when you two had Shiloh.. he was so proud.. I am sure as well as a very supportive loving husband...he was a great father also.. We never saw him without a smile on his face and a little skip in his step. He made people happy just to see him. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.. Nothing (and I mean NOTHING) is too big for you to ask of us if you need us.. We are here for you.. I am sure that he would do the same for us if we needed anything.. You can get a hold of us at (415) 548-7357 anytime day or night.
