Alex Pronzato Obituary

Alex L. Pronzato, born July 9, 1940 and died on June 16, 2014 Alex Louis Pronzato beloved husband of Marie Ciccone Pronzato and father of James and Andrea Pronzato died at Christiana Hospital in Newark DE following cardiac complications. Alex was born and raised in Philadelphia. He attended North Catholic High School and later attended Penn State and Temple University. He served as a Lt. Corporal in the U.S. Marines. Alex was President of Alex L. Pronzato Inc., Radnor, PA. A successful and well-regarded builder of over 600 commercial properties on the Main Line, Philadelphia, and the tri-state area, his formidable client list included Estee Lauder Cosmetics, Pitcairn Properties, Merion Cricket Club, Ferguson Kitchen & Bath Showrooms, and Bank of America, to mention a few. Prior to Mr. Pronzato starting his own company at the age of 34, he was employed by Lowell Eastman Developers in California. Alex was a man's man, known for his rugged good looks, undeniable charm and a trademark engaging smile. He was a down-to-earth guy with no pretenses. A man who helped and mentored many people - young and old, he was fiercely loyal to friends and family, and uncompromisingly dependable, honest and free with his generosity. He had a passion for cooking and was a talented and creative gourmet chef with a specialty in Italian cuisine. A devotee of fine wines, always wanting to share a glass of his newest find. He loved boating and fishing in Ocean City and the Chesapeake Bay areas. A devoted dog lover, he raised and wrestled with numerous litters of Labrador Retrievers, old fashioned kennel rescues and his most recent and closest buddy, Bucky, a Weimaraner/Pointer mix. Fishes, frogs and lilies were part of the joy that he created in the back yard pond. Alex was an ardent fan of college football & basketball. He was actively and competitively involved in squash and tennis and played vigorously and regularly at the Philadelphia Country Club into his 70s. Previously he smoked the courts at the Cynwyd Club in Bala Cynwyd. A voracious reader, he had a particular interest in historical literature and geography and was well-versed in topics ranging from the Ottoman Empire to the Continental drift & Tectonic plates. He will be sorely missed by his wife Marie, of 26 years, his sister in law, Alexis Ciccone, son, James and daughter Andrea, and his extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26th at the Chapel of St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 South Valley Forge Road Wayne, PA 19087 Burial is private, for family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428. Funeral arrangements by Chadwick and McKinney, Ardmore, Pa. www.chadwickmckinney.com

We are shocked and heartbroken. Alex was always one of our favorite cousins and I always looked forward to seeing him at Guerrina family reunions. We unfortunately have nothing to offer that will help with this tragedy except to pray that our Lord may hold him dearly in his heart and know the really wonderful guy he was as well as the loving husband he was to Marie and father to James and Andrea.

I was shocked to hear about Alex.My fond memories of Alex go back to the '60's.
He always had a huge grin on his face unless
he was playing tennis or squash, then he was all business.I will miss him very much.
