Alexander "Sasha" Theodore Shulgin was born in Berkeley, California to Theodore and Henrietta Shulgin. A multi-instrumentalist, with a lifelong love of music, Sasha attended Harvard, but left to join the Navy during WWII. He later earned a biochemistry PhD from UC Berkeley. Sasha married Nina Gordon in 1948. In 1949 their son Ted was born. Both predeceased Sasha: Nina in 1977, Ted in 2011.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
