On behalf of the Pelayo family our thoughts and prayers are with the byer family. My mom is a current employee of one of his many clothing factories. My mom tells me stories on how she was able to meet him on various occasions when he would tour his factory in Los Angeles, on how he always had a smile and greeted everyone with a handshake. That shows a lot of an owner who takes time out of his many other projects to greet and put a smile on your face. He will be missed by all of his employees. From the son of one of his employees in Los Angeles California thank you for providing for our family.
God bless you

Mr. Byer was a man that I truly up looked to. He had so many levels of wisdom, talent and a special gift of understanding people on a very deep level. He was man that had a unique ability to be tough and kind at the same time, when one had the privilege and honor of sitting in his office listing to his advice.
I always admired his ability to make tough decisions, understanding the greater good of sound business choices that had a long term positive outcome for the company and the people that worked for him. I consider My Byer the last of the great ones. All my business dealings were done with a hand shake, and I never worried about getting paid. In fact he seemed to get insulted if you insisted on doing business with a signed contract.
He used to make me smile when discussing business always using baseball strategy when conducting business. I hit a home run on that deal
I'll never forget that old push button calculator he had behind his desk, and I think he had the same briefcase he used when he first started business.
I can truly say I looked up to him as my second father with love and respect.
I'm going to miss you Mr. Byer

My first real job was at Byer California from 1981-1984. While I didn't have much direct contact with him, he provided his employees with excellent benefits and was very generous. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.

I remember Allan Byer as the man who helped me get started in my architecture career.
He called me at home on Mothers' Day and asked me to meet him at his shopping center acquisition.
I asked, when?
He said now.
So, postponing Mothers' day observation, I went.
After a tour of the center Allen's lawyer interrupted my presentation by saying, Don't worry. He likes you.
There followed many years and many projects, and it was always a pleasure working for him.
Allen was a straight-shooter, ruffled my feathers when I needed it, and I appreciated that over the years.
When Allen's son Alex took over shopping center management, there were many more successful projects.
Allen will be missed.
