Mr. McCarthy,, I have so many memories of Oceana,, and you are right in there. I didn't know you well, but knew you well enough to know you looked and acted hard,, but had a big heart. Thank you for helping to make me the man I am today... Mike Reed, class of '73

Andy McCarthy...I just learned of your passing and I will be certain to reach out to Marge to tell her how much the entire Kelly family sends our condolences, love and prayers to one of the most influential people in our father's life.
Andy McCarthy showed my father friendship in the most difficult of times and the years and years of stories from the Delta trips will forever be emblazoned into my brain. You showed my brother unconditional love and I know that my dad, brother and you are singing, 'when Irish eyes are smiling' in the heavens above.
When I learned that Andy was serving my mom communion weekly at her care home...I knew the true bond of friendship goes beyond time, health and circumstances.
Words are hard to convey what the Kelly family feels about Andy McCarthy; but love is the purest of words that shares the depth of our emotion.
In Prayer,
Jean Marie, Karen, Frank III and Richard Kelly
(Children of Frank and Jean Kelly)
A part of ~ When Irish Eyes are Smiling by Bing Crosby
When Irish eyes are smiling
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
When Irish hearts are happy
All the world seems bright and gay
And when Irish eyes are smiling
Sure, they steal your heart away

Andy, you will always be remembered for saving my teaching career, and of course, for sharing birth days. MAY the Lord seat YOU in a special place at His table. MAY ALL those who loved you be comforted in knowing that the Lord has placed His loving arms around you, and may they know that you are sleeping secure in peace until that day when we are all called to be at that table.

MY friend, Andy was a man among men, when ever anyone asked his help he would always make time to help. The meetings we attended for so many years saved uncounted lives. The summers on the delta and at his home on the lake will always be some of my most fondest memories. Andy was loved by us all, and will be missed by many. God Bless You, My Friend, your in my heart and my prayers. RIP

Class of 1978, Mr.McCarthy, put up with a lot from us students. But didn't get mad when i accidentally hit him with a snow ball at school. The one time it snowed ! He was a watch dog , but only doing his job and doing it well. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

We all knew and respected the man we called Mr. McCarthy at Oceana High School. We made his job difficult more often than we brightened his day I fear. Mom was on the school board and spoke fondly of Andy and the work he did for the schools. He attended her award and recognition events and always greeted us, his former students, as though we were family.

I had the honor of knowing Mr. McCarthy as a student at Oceana High School. He had the reputation of being a tough guy, but deep down, I knew he was a pretty nice man. I have a couple of funny stories from those high school days. He was the most well known teacher at that school. EVERYBODY knew him and maybe spent some time in his office, like me, who had a tendency to go to the beach instead of class.
I am grateful that I had a chance to see him a few times after high school and to share stories and laugh about them.
Mr. McCarthy, you will be remembered and missed.
My best to the McCarthy family.
