Sister Anne was the quintessential teacher. A graduate of Lone Mountain College in San Francisco and the University of California at Berkeley, Anne began her teaching career at Notre Dame de Victoires School in San Francisco; then she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Orange in 1952. She taught many young Sisters at St. Joseph College in Orange. Sr. Anne also taught in Sydney, Australia and at Rosary High School in Fullerton where she shared her brilliance and wit with hundreds of students for over 23 years. When post-polio syndrome weakened her gait, Sr. Anne retired to Regina Residence in Orange where she continued to tutor those in need of her skills and served as a spiritual director to many. Sister Anne entered eternal life on Feb. 11, 2014. She will be missed by close friend, Sheila Lauda, her many students, her friends, and the members of her religious congregation. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on February 18, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Motherhouse chapel located at 480 S. Batavia Street, Orange 92868. Interment will follow immediately at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sr. Anne's name to the congregation for the support of their ongoing ministries.

Sister Anne was my favorite teacher by far. I still have the toy T-Rex she gave me senior year. She helped me fall in love with history. As a teacher myself, I hear myself channeling Sister Anne with her chronological clusters and I am not Mama Pterodactyl. What a force she was, and I'm forever grateful to have had her in my life.

Sr. Anne was one of the most challenging teachers I ever had. If you needed help she was there for you, but if you were goofing off, she would push you until you did the best work possible. She pushed herself to be the best she could and she pushed us as well. And no matter what, she always started class with a prayer.

Psalms 119:76 shows it's helpful to ask for God's loyal love to bring us comfort and in a time of grieving, how much more so is that help from God needed in the face of losing a loved one?
I hope that thought and scripture brings you a measure of peace.

Sister Anne . . . Her great smile, her mannerisms, her way with words, her unique style that we all loved. Thank you to a great teacher, both In and out of the classroom. God bless you!

Sister Anne made history and metaphysics come alive as she taught them and made these subjects exciting to her students. In loving memory, I owe her a debt of gratitude for taking me under her wing during our time together.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to spare time for people. I will always remember her for her kindness and her ecumenicalism - she could reach out to all.

RIP Sr. Anne. 30 years later, and I can still hear your voice reciting Shakespearean soliloquies and Beowulf passages...and 30 years later, I can still recite them by heart. Thank you for being the teacher that made a difference.

Sister Anne was my favorite teacher! She would sit with me during her lunch and we would diagram sentences. I truly adored her and her passion for teaching. I am lucky to have had her in my life.
