Tony,
Thinking about you today, I had to throw away FalKhan's green ball, not the original green ball, a newer green ball the one I bring outside in the morning, to toss to him while I drink coffee. Problem, I didn't immediately order a new ball, I forgot to order a new green ball! So, now when we get outside, he starts barking and I mean BARKING, this has been going on for about a month now (since "the ball incident").
Finally, yesterday, I figured it out and ordered the ball (and a flinger because picking up a spitty dog ball when you're trying to drink a cuppa coffee is gross.) So on August 20, I will have the new ball and FalKhan will be hopefully be happy in the morning when we go outside again.
This boy is such a blessing.
Thank you Tony, I love you.

Thank God for you.

It seems impossible that 5 years have passed since I last heard your voice.
Your 49ers are back in the Superbowl, I know you know (You are not allowed to help them, Tony.)
FalKhan sends a big, drooly hello to you, he's a good boy.
I send my love and appreciation to you for being in my life.

Christmas is almost here again Tony, you and I laughed so much at the movie "A Christmas Story" and you finally found "The leg lamp"!!!! Whenever I watch it now, it brings back good memories of you, your sense of humor and the "little boy" in your heart. You loved to laugh and found the humor even when it was hidden.
I am so grateful for the laughter Tony, thank you.
Love,

My heart is sad and burdened-
I have wonderful, loving memories of this family. I looked up to Tony, Tony Bologna I would call him. Funny how that just now popped into my head. I wanted him to be my brother, I would call him my brother; and I'm sure he rolled his eyes.
I lost touch for many years, and I am so very sad that I let that happen. I know Tony may have never understood the connection, but that was always ok with me. I admired Tony and I pray and hope that he knows the love and care I had for him.
I'm so so so sorry for this loss. My heart breaks.
** Bernie- I've sent you a Facebook message...**

Tony,
My sister Chandra called me today to ask me about your star.
I'm sure you know that FalKhan is keeping me busy and even now when I say "Superman" he howls. What a funny dog he is, I love him so much.
Thanks to your beautiful sister Bernadette for keeping this place open, so we can come here to try to find a way to express our love and how much you are missed.
You are very much in my heart at all times.
Much love,

Tony,
Your birthday brings special emotions of the entire spectrum all with love.
There is no point in asking why life is as it is, I know, but somehow it's the only question that I can think of especially now.
Everything worth believing in promises there is more and that the spirit continues, which is both comforting and frustrating at the same time. It's something to hang onto though and it helps.
You told me that you didn't want to lose anyone else because it is just too painful, I understand.
This world, this life is most definitely a better place now because of you so thank you for making it so.
Happy birthday Tony,
Love and peace to you and thank you so much for all you brought into my life. I love you.

Dear Tony,
You know I have FalKhan and I thank you for that.
It's been a long road for him starting with when you left us. In fact, just after I got him almost a year and a half ago, one vet told me it might be kinder to put him down. Needless to say, I have a new vet but the truth is he was facing significant health issues at that time. Trauma and grief affects pets too, especially close companions like you and him. It takes a while for them to regain their bearings if they ever do. FalKhan has a great strong spirit and a kind heart. He misses you to be sure so with time and the support, of lots of people here, FalKhan is finally coming around back to trust, goofiness and good health.
You must be laughing whenever I say "Superman" because he still howls and barks if I say it just as he did when you said it, every time.
I don't know how he manages to sneak on the bed at night without waking me up as big as he is, but there he is with his toys, it's hilarious.
So again thank you, honey I love him and I'm happy to have him here with me.
Missing you every moment still,
Love you
Tera

Good Morning Tony,
It's always morning in heaven isn't it?
I wake up and as sure as there is toothpaste and coffee there is you. Again, we used to call it "The Love Zone" one of our silly, funny sayings.
You loved to watch some of the old TV shows, like Leave it to Beaver and The Beverly Hillbilly's. Jethro Clampett and Granny were your favorites, classic, always funny and to hear you retell it was pure joy. You would laugh that big, huge Tony laugh then we would be stuck, can't speak a coherent sentence, out of breath, laughing for far too long laughing. What good that does for the soul, you always brought the joy and the peace.
The Love Zone is real and I am happy you brought me here. It is mornings and laughter and hope and joy and peace and I am here to stay.
I love love love you,

My dear Tony,
How I could ever take for granted that I would have you, your humor and your presence in my life, is a mystery. Hindsight is frustrating.
"Tomorrow is not promied" is a common life lesson, I get it... yet even knowing that truth, we go along blythly day by day. I guess we have to.
One thing is certain, love lives on, it is the only thing we actually do take with us. The connections remain intact, that I know.
Love is forever. You are ever present on in my heart.

Happy 61st Birthday Brother!
There was a blizzard yesterday and the ground is white and heavy with snow. The sun is shining and the snow is glistening and it is beautiful - I am thinking of you. Has Mom sung the Birthday Song to you yet? She always started our birthdays in song. I can hear her even now. It brings a smile and warms my heart to remember her singing. I miss you all so much. Even though you are with those who love you - we LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!
Tony, not a day goes by that you are not thought of with love. Your smile; your great wit, and your kind heart are etched forever in my heart. Your laughter rings out and I can hear it even now. Bound by love, you are forever with us - never far. I know that someday, we will all sing the Happy Birthday song together - our family united once again. Until that time, we sing it here for you!
Happy Birthday Brother!
Love you so much,

Happy Birthday Mom!
It is hard to believe another year has passed and your "special day" is here again. March 10th always floods me with beautiful memories of times past. We always had such a great time celebrating March birthdays together - our time! How many little trips did we make with Aunt K joining us? These good times are forever held dear in my heart. I loved that you saved all past birthday cards and displayed them on the mantel each year - a beautiful ritual! I smile thinking of this and visualize them all lined up to view. I MISS YOU Mom!
I will be thinking of you with Dad and Tony celebrating your day - I will be singing the Birthday Song to you too! As you always said to me, "Make it a great day!" Surrounded by our family who all love you; it will be a great Birthday Day for you today - I know it!
Please give my love to Dad and Tony. You are all carried in my heart and missed terribly!
Happy Birthday with LOVE,

Tony,
The birds are singing up a storm this morning. It is a very important thing; it is a daily advertisement of their continuing tenure, their presence, and it is usually males, I have learned.
Birds can sing at anytime of the day but they choose morning because they know they will be heard better in the mornings against the backdrop of the quiet dawn.
As the day gets rolling the televisions and radio's go on, the earbuds go into the ears, the cars start and we go about our day, each focus replacing the next until we are no longer aware of the bird songs.
You made me aware of the bird songs today honey.
Thank you.
I love you.

My Dear Tony,
Please be on the lookout for Olive, my great companion for the past 12 years. You can't miss her, she has a very shiny black coat and a beautiful kind face. She took off for Heaven on Friday, February 19, 2016.
I was holding her and I told her she should not be afraid because you are there and that Falco and Khan and many others would be there to greet her when she arrived.
She thinks she's a puppy even as big as she is, I would not be surprised if she doesn't jump right on your lap. She loves to lay and snooze with her head on you too. She could not be in better hands, I know she can count on you honey.
When you see her, please give her a big hug from me and her other good friend LuLu the Catahoula Leopard Dog who is right here with me.
I know the love continues, thank you.

St. Valentine's Day,
I am holding a poem with a letter you wrote to me, seems like yesterday. When I got it in the mail, I called you to tell you I had received it. You were so happy that I got it FINALLY (it took one day to get to me) and you told me it was your first one.
Beautiful, sweet words from your heart, we read it together over and over. I was so touched by the tenderness of such a man who could also be very tough.
How fortunate I am to have this lovely gift of your words of love to me, in my hand straight from your hand today. Your words are a comfort that I hold close and treasure.

Good Morning Tony,
So many thoughts of you are flooding my mind especially these past few days. I miss you more than words can every depict.
You said "I love you" to me almost every day we spoke and you sent pictures, movies, music, flowers. Remember the book you said you wanted to write... I told you I would gladly be your scribe. You wanted to write about your days as a young police officer and I am happy you made the time to relate some of those times to me. You even sent newspaper clippings to me and my Dad. How proud I am of you.
Today is my daughter's birthday, you met her when she was 2 years old. One time we were at your apartment when you lived in South San Francisco on King Drive. We were going to have dinner and I was in the kitchen, I looked away for a second and then called out for my little girl, you saw her walking toward the patio (your apartmnt was about 3 stories up) and the patio door was open. She made it to the patio before you could get to her but you grabbed her and held her high in the air. Everything was okay, Tony saved the day.
Your quick action and HOW you held her struck my heart so deeply but for you things could have gone a totally different way. Thank you.
There was also the time you sat there totally patient while she put her favorite barrettes in your hair. Tony, that was priceless, if only I had taken a picture but you wisely made "NO PICTURES" a stipulation before the first barrette went in. I can tell you it was funny. Thank you.
I love you,
Tera

My dear Tony,
You will be happy to know that I am going through the list of movies, music and recipes per your recomendations ::smile:: some we have watched together and "discussed" at length. Agree or disagree there was a great deal of good stuff in those discussions, I think I enjoyed talking about it even more than the movie sometimes.
A lifetime of memories that I am so thankful I am able to recall and hold in my heart.
There may come a day, I am told, that I will not cry or is it that I will cry less...not so sure about that but I know that tears can be a reaction to grief but also tears are a reaction to overwhelming love, joy and gratitude. I want to turn to more and more of the joy and gratitude of your spirit even if it comes with tears.
If I had the option to live this over again even knowing that you would not be here today (leaving me in the love zone as we used to say) I would still choose to have you in my life.
Thank you for all that you challenged in me and all that you forgave because it was like the rain and produced much more love.
Love you, I do

Tony, I am sending my love directly from my heart and I am forever grateful that Olga called me and that we were able to talk on the phone January 15th. I told you that I would be out as soon as possible and said "I love you and you said, I love you too!" I cherish this forever memory; I hear your voice and I feel blessed.
Brother, today belongs to you. You are carried in my heart - precious and secure. You are loved, cherished and so very missed. I do long to hear your laughter again and see the twinkle in your brown eyes. It will happen; someday! Until then, I hold you in my heart and January 16th is very dark.

Tony,
The dates are flashing by but somehow time appears to stand still. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year have all come and gone, beautiful family gatherings, good food and music, you were always good at getting people together, no expense spared so that everyone had a good time. Your spirit is deeply reflected in everything that gives life meaning for me.
We had great times on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, you and I. One Christmas you gave me a meat slicer ...I reminded you of it not so long ago and you and we had a good laugh especially because you said the same thing you said when you gave it to me, it was a great, practical gift.
For the record I loved it, it was from you.
Holidays give us a space in time to express our appreciation and love for each other even if we take each other for granted most of the rest of the time.
So Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year again Tony and thank you for giving me the gifts of such lovely memories.
Love, love, love

Tony,
I'm thinking about a time when you and I disagreed...it was a serious disagreement. I got up and got to work and I did not realize how sad I looked but everyone commented and asked me how I was, if anything was wrong or if they could help.
Very soon after I got to my office, I got a call from the receptionist that there was "someone" in the lobby.
Apparently she had called "upstairs" because when I got there you were there in full uniform and so was almost everyoe else in the company.
I looked at you and you said nothing but put your hand out. I took your hand and we walked down the stairs together silently to your K9 vehicle with Falco in it. You opened the front passenger door and I got inside the car and you came around the other side...and got into your seat. You put your hand out to me again and we sat there holding hands.
I took a look up and saw the entire company in the front lobby window looking down at us and motioning for us to kiss each other.
You looked at me and said "No I am in uniform but I love you and we will kiss later."
Falco was barking...what a wonderful day that was.
Loving you from here on earth,

Tony,
I listened to music the weekend. We had songs we thought were hilarious, songs that were traditional to us and songs that of course were beautiful and so expressive of feelings we used to listen to them together even on the phone.
One time I went into the kitchen for a glass of water and just picked up the phone to call you and you were there on the line!
An incredible, sweet, strong connection that surprised me every time in so many ways. I kept questioning if it could possibly be real. What a gift.
I still feel the connection, I still feel the love.
Thinking of you each and every day with love,

Good Morning Tony,
When I spoke with Hot Dog yesterday he told me that he had a little issue. It was the usual, one of those daily life things we have with our kids. We talked it through and I assured him that I have been there too. Hot Dog said, that this is something he would have usually called you about and that you were always able to help. He paused and I could tell he was thinking about some of the times and your past conversations where you helped him to get beyond his frustrations and realize that true family and friendship will always be there for you to love you and help to put things in perspective, to listen and when necessary go the extra mile. Hot Dog recognizes what you did for him and his family. He always says "there are none better than Tony" and I wholeheartedly agree.
Love, love, love you,

Tony: This afternoon I watched the Pope delivering Mass and reflected back when you were a little Altar Boy at Mission Delores. It was midnight Mass and you fell asleep in the big chair at the altar - you were so small. It was so touching for all of us who were there - precious and innocent. I see it as if it happened yesterday.
My heart was filled with love for you then and equally filled with love for you now. So many touching memories - you are so missed my brother. I am sending you my love.

Happy Birthday Dad!
I just returned home from San Francisco and a flood of beautiful memories came to me. When I fly into SFO, I think of the many times you had push-ups and water bottles in a cooler for the girls. You said they will always remember Grandpa bringing them - and they do! All of the fun times we had at Mom's house. You teaching them about colors and printing them their own special stationary. The birthday parties at Moms and at Tony's house; Christmas and all the other visits we had. Remember Christmas here - we had the whole gang. The little park and the zoo and all the other wonderful times we had.
I miss all of you and still can't believe you are all in heaven. If I listen carefully; I can hear your laugh and my brother's laugh too! I find comfort in knowing that someday we will all be together - a family united again. Happy Birthday Dad!
You are all Missed and So Very Loved!

Dear Tony,
It is still so hard to accept that I no longer hear your voice each day. I had saved a newspaper with the headlines that the Giants had won and came across it the other day, of course it reminds me of you.
We had so much fun you and I, you could always turn something around. My family is still talking about the BBQ ribs you coached me to cook and bring for them this past Christmas. To think I almost did not make them but because you asked me to it was fun, only now my family thinks I can really make ribs! Same thing with your "special" pasta salad recipe. I have to confess I did add cubes of salami even though you said it was not part of the recipe, I promise to make it again just the way you said.
Of course a day doesn't go by that I do not think of you and refer to you. My sister said " Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today." and though I have heard that saying many times in my life, it has special meaning to me now. I see a date on something and I say, Tony was here then...I think you have cured my procrastination issue.
The one thing I did not hold back was telling you that you are my hero.
I love you and pray for you every day.

Tony,
Yesterday I spoke with HotDog, he was upset because he misplaced his wallet. I went through the usual questions ... Where was the last place you remember having it? Did you double check your usual places? Have you asked your family if anyone has seen it? (So not very helpful but what do you say?) HotDog answered each question, I had it this morning at the coffee shop and I've already been back there, not there. Yes, I double checked everywhere. Yes, I asked my sister, she said, I am probably just getting more forgetful, these things happen. He went on to say that it was the picture of his Mother he would miss the most and we sat with that for a moment. I thought of the only helpful suggestion that I could and told him he needed to call and report his debit card missing, as soon as possible. He agreed and said he would call back after he made the report.
Before he hung up I said, I have a feeling you will find your wallet. I said that because I remember once before when you mentioned to me that HotDog misplaced a bit of money in a cab returning home from his visit with you and somehow that thought gave me the feeling he would be okay.
An hour or so later the phone rings, HotDog says "Tera, you won't believe it but I found my wallet!" He said he had looked in that same spot at least twice before but when he looked again, there it was. He said, "I think my Mother and Tony are looking out for me."
Of course they both are, yes, I Knew you'd find it HotDog! Thank God.
Little reminders lift our spirits because we can feel our feelings in a positive way. It's like having you back for a moment, honey.
I love you.

I find solace in knowing that someday we will be together. My brother and my family ~ reunited with love and laughter. Until then, you are carried in my heart.

To you Tony my true love and soul mate, as you said to me many times through all these years, I am here and will remain steadfast as you have always been for me and my family. I am so grateful for all the time we spent together especially this past year and that I listened to you and made you my first priority as you asked (insisted) ::smile: : as only you could do. My pain is relieved slightly only for the fact that you and I made sure to say I truly love you to each other every day..

To the living we owe RESPECT, but to those gone from this world, we owe the TRUTH.
Brother, I find comfort in knowing SOMEDAY we will be together. I close my eyes and can hear your booming laughter and see the twinkle in your eyes!
Tony, I carry you in my heart! Your presence is always here - I find strength from you! SOMEDAY....

Dear Tony:
How quickly the time goes by! Jenna and Miranda will be 23 on the 9th. Really, it seems only yesterday that they we planning their birth. Their first flight was to San Francisco at two months old. You had our cousin's wedding reception at your house Tony. You held the girls and looked so proud! One in each arm and they looked so very tiny. Mom and Dad were standing right next to you....what a wonderful moment! Miranda Leigh leaves for Austin (in July), to attend the Graduate School of Journalism at University of Texas at Austin. She will also be a teaching assistant. Jenna Paige is still in school and planning to go into Radiology. She is working too; and is a "special event's coordinator" for a very lovely upscale restaurant. We are so proud of them.
We love you Tony...please give Mom and Dad a hug from us. Tell them we miss you all so much!

These days I am thinking about you Tony. Good thoughts, happy times, things we laughed about. This past year was even more precious than I could have known and I will always be grateful for that time we shared. You would be so proud of Charlie B. she is such a sweet, funny little girl. I will see you in my dreams.
Love always,
Tera

Dear Bernadette and the Carreon Family,
We only just found out about Tony's passing. He will be missed so much.
We had quite a few adventures together since we met while working at Safeway. We grew apart but we have always had a soft spot in our hearts for him. We thought of him on this final night of the David Letterman Show. Tony was a big fan of David Letterman.
May God bless him and his family

Dear Tony,
Hot Dog called today, he told me that he had another dream about you last night. He said you were with his son, which I know gives him great comfort.

It is hard to believe that four years have passed since you left us Mom! Now my brother has joined you and Dad (with so many more we love). There is an emptiness without you and I want you to know how much you are missed and loved! Miranda Leigh will be entering University of Texas at Austin this year. She will be earning her Masters and was offered a teaching assistant position. We are so proud of her. I miss her already. Jenna Paige is still pursing radiology and we are equally proud of her accomplishments. I wish you were here to share everything with the girls. They do know how much you love them and they you. Someday, we will all have our "wings" and will join you forever.
Mom, as you always said:
"I LOVE YOU MORE" - I miss you my family!

Brother, from one of your favorite movies, "It's a Wonderful Life," ...a bell on the Christmas tree rings, Zuzu remembers aloud that an angel has just earned his wings." I remember sending you the DVD version many years ago and like to reflect on how much you loved this tender movie. It is so telling of who your are!
Missing you so much today and sending you my love,
Bernadette

Hi Tony,
Last nigh, in my dream, I saw you. You were standing tall, you did not speak but just stood there, hand over hand.
When I spoke with Hot Dog earlier today I mentioned it to him and he said that means you are sending greetings. I thought that might be good to share so I am posting it here.
Love, love, love,
Tera

Happy Birthday!
We are here thinking of you and trusting you are happy there with everyone up in heaven. I know it's not right to ask why it has to be this way and I know the answer we are taught, is that God is in charge and tomorrow is not promised we must have faith and always be ready but now, that answer gives me little solace. I want to change time, turn the universe around and take life back to when you were here. I want to do what I did not do and know what I did not know, with hope that you could be here today, even if it is suffering through this valley with me. Please forgive me because I know you are in a better place, you certainly are.
You've brought very good, loving, people into my life, there are none better or more beautiful and strong than your true friend Olga Merino who was there for you 100% in your hour of need, your sister Bernadette, your aunt Keitha, your aunt Belinda of course Hot Dog who loves you like a son and so many more all who like you, are straightforward, honest, courageous, smart and have that strength of character tempered with kindness. People who can be counted on and who are simply shining examples of integrity. Thank you for being the conduit, it is great to have met these wonderful people.
The joy that brought you into life for me has not diminished one bit, I felt it when I met you and I feel it now. I will be playing music today in your honor, I will recall your jokes and stories, the stories you told me, your kindness and love of life. That big laugh, that handsome, loving face with the huge smile, your handsyour pride.
I will try to keep the tears to a minimum but truthfully I can make no secure promise on that because I love you and I miss you every moment and it hurts not having you here. Happy Birthday Anthony Joseph Carreon.
Love Love and more Love,
Tera

What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. G. Eliot
Tony, today March 24th, you are celebrating your "60th Birthday" with Mom, Dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and your very good friends. I hear your laughter and see your wonderful smile! I join in singing Happy Birthday to you; and reflect on so many beautiful memories of years past. I find joy in knowing that you are surrounded by those who love you and who you love. I take comfort in knowing that someday, we all will be together again. You did leave us much to soon - had we only known how short the days would be... to turn back the clock before.
Remember all of us here who love and miss you - we are not far. Love binds us until we are together once again.
Brother, Happy Birthday! May your day be filled with love and happiness.
Forever in my heart with love,
Bernadette

I searched for twinkling stars in the sky; but there were none to see.
