I always ask myself, if someone dies and goes to Heaven -as Berry did-, why are we sad? I came to the conclusion that we are just a little bit selfish because we are sad for ourselves as a result of the hole that Berry left in our hearts.

Barry, I reopened your memory book because I wanted to read the love people left for you but also to leave some of my own. Looking for you nearly a year ago I was not shocked but disbelieving you were gone. I thought it was odd that you had not left me a singng hello on my voicemail in soooo long. In a way you saved me by Seeing me. We laughed and loved and made many new memories together. I was respectful of your unwavering love for your mama. Hope Leon is holding up without the two bright, though unwieldy sparks in his life! Thank you for your love and light. I am certain the next life for you is where you will forever shine. Peace finally. Lastly, "howdy, howdy, howdy". I loved you Bar.

I only got to know Barry over the past couple of years, but what I learned was that he didn't have a mean, evil, or angry bone in his body. His love of music, signing, and trying to make people laugh will always be remembered. R.I.P. buddy. I know how much you loved and missed your mom and I hope you are at peace with her.

I am will be forever grateful that we had lunch by the Bridge on Thursday and that we talked most of the night. There wasn't much Barry and I wouldn't do for each other. We could also call each other, with impunity, at any time of the day or night.

Barry would often say "I love you" to me, but I was too inhibited to say it to him, even though I felt the same.

Barry was an irreplaceable friend and I'll always miss him.

Bear Boy: unbelievable. I am still in a good state of denial. But this I do know: we've talked about this and it happened and though it all sucks, we can't deny you being with your mom is the only place you were truly happy. Give her a kiss and i'll get back to you. i can't fully accept this, still...PS: how did you get in the Balboa? I thought you had overextended your stay there!! I will try to put up that picture with you holding Chance, you tried for years to do that! and finally did....

Truly an unforgettable character and one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever known. Barry was a true friend, may he rest in peace.

I was a classmate and remember him from the earliest days of Star of the Sea, probably 1971,and later Riordan High, but not since then. What stands out is that even though he was always much more athletic and accepted than me,he never treated me condescendingly, saw me as an equal, and was always cracking up (laughing) about something.

Dearest brother Barry, it has truly been a pleasure being your pal since we were introduced to each other by our dear friend Danny Spinale some 30 years ago. I will always remember the smiles and laughs we shared whenever we got together. The Giants and 49er games. The BBQ's at Dannys. The 3 consecutive MLK 4 day weekend Reno trips we took on your birthday. The fun times you, Johnny, Danny, and myself had through the years... The 2 weeks i visited with you in Maui 2 years ago. I will forever keep those fond memories of you close to my heart for all time. You were one of my best friends. Loyal and true since the day we met. I miss you so much. The 4am phone calls and singing messages you often sent which sometimes irritated me ironicly are now severely missed as well. You will forever remain in my thoughts. I know you have finally found your peace when you reunited with your mom...your first love. Until we meet up again on the otherside goodbye for now my brother i'll be seeing you... Big love then, now, and forever, your pal always, Richie
