Such fond memories I have of Benny and his graciousness when I'd dine at Amelio's as a young lady with a date who was out to impress. He always greeted me with "Ah Miss Basolo, how wonderful to see you - it's been ages" when in fact, I'd just been there a week prior with another date! We'd wink and he'd go on with his marvelous formalities. He was a true gentleman and a stellar part of our wonderful San Francisco. They just don't make people like Benny anymore. So I'll toast him with trying to mimic his perfect Caesar salad. And I will bring his friend and fellow waiter, another San Fran icon, Jarl Johnnson to the church this evening.

Have thought about Benigno many times since I have moved to New Mexico. I have many warming memories of time spent with Bene at Amelios. My thoughts are with you all.
