Cantor Ellen Schwab, 77, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in Hightstown, N.J.
She served as the Cantor of Peninsula Temple Beth El for 18 years. She was the first Cantor of Cincinnati's historic Plum Street Temple, and the Cantor of Har Sinai Congregation in Baltimore. She was a pioneer in bringing congregational singing to the Jewish Reform synagogues throughout the country..
Surviving are her brother, David Okun, nieces, Erin Rome, and Kory Orlanski; a nephew, Jordan Okun; her partner, Josh Elkes; grandnieces and grandnephews, a bonus granddaughter, Rachel Elkes and a devoted friend, Lynn Elkes.
Graveside services took place in Freehold, NJ.

So sorry to hear this news. I remember Cantor Ellen fondly while she served at Har Sinai Congregation. My sincere condolences her family. May her memory be for a blessing.
