Carl Peter Leijon

Carl Peter Leijon August 12, 1923 - December 29, 2006 Died of heart failure at home in the care of his family, after a long illness. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Mary (Gallaher); three children, Stephen, Susan, and Kenneth, and six grand-children. Born and raised in Palo Alto, the oldest child of Swedish immigrant parents and brother of John and Pauline, Carl served during WWII at Moffett Field as an aircraft engine mechanic, earned BA and MA degrees at San Jose State College, and taught industrial arts at Avenal, Capuccino, and Hillsdale High Schools during a career of 36 years, serving as Industrial Arts Department Head and one of the original faculty at Hillsdale. Carl continued in his love of woodworking all his life, and lived by values he admired in other people - a cheerful and faithful friend, a master craftsman and mentor, a strong father and husband, a presence in his church and a good man. Funeral services 2:00PM, Sunday, Jan. 14, at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 3900 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo.
