I am sorry I did not keep in touch with you good people. Life takes everyone in all sorts of directions.
I would run into Carlton from time to time and he had been on my mind recently.
I can still see me and Carlton as kids in the neighborhood playing football until the street lights came on wearing cordoroy pants.
I will miss Carlton but I know he is with our Father in Heaven.

Whoa! This man has been on my mind SO MUCH LATELY...that I have been literally having dreams about him, however, thought I was the only one that has not been able yet to MOVE ON WITH LIFE like so many have (respectfully so). Couldn't read this message today without taking time to express the sleepless nights I have been experiencing recently, however, this too shall pass. Oh well, guess I will get back to my reality and that is work (smile). Just needed someone to OPEN the agonizing reality that the 'only brother I knew' is not here for me and quite frankly...I have been feeling ALL ALONE (as it relates to our family and us both taking on the roles of adults that were exhibited from our parents and their siblings). Whoa! Getting that feelin' (emotional, as well as spiritual) and you all know that ya can't do that at work (smile). Thanks to the person who had enough guts to express their feelings today because I felt like I was on an island all byself. I needed to process that. Peace

Wow - I can't believe it's another milestone that we must acknowlegde your absence. To know you was to love you and without you - our hearts are still broken. This weekend is my wedding day, but let me tell each and every one of you, the entire time of planning this wedding, I had many thoughts of Carlton. He was not only a walking angel, but he was also an inspiration to me. No matter what the situation was, Carlton always handled himself as the man he was raised to be. It was not only a blessing to have known Carlton, but it was an honor. Because Carlton set such a wonderful example, on May 19, 2007, I cannot go without saying, "Thank you my friend". Because of people like Carlton, I have learned to be a better father, friend, co-worker, employee, brother, son, nephew and now new husband. Amen my brotha's and sister's; Amen.

To date it doesn't seem right or true that Carlton is no longer with us. He is surely missed. We can only be a shadow in Carlton's past life and learn from the fine example he set while he was with us. In your prayers, remember Carlton for who he was and the fine job he did. Thoughts race through my mind everyday -- knowing that he is gone is so hard to believe. It seems like just yesterday he was wreckin havok and now today--nothing but my memories. I will always love Carlton and will miss him forever. How could God take an angel from us? I guess he needed him more. How can he be so selfish to take him up there with him but really how can I be so selfish to want to make him stay. To my first cousin, my god-brother,...my friend. There were only three men in my life who REALLY CARED ABOUT ME AND MY WELL-BEING. Today, two of them are gone and are resting in heaven (my dad and you). You were there for me at times when life seemed as if it was not worth living anymore. You rarely said much verbally-but it was the POWER in your eyes when you would look at me that let me know the expectations you had of me. Yeah, you CARED ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON IN MY LIFE...WOW-now I am on my own. I still feel like I am dreaming and cannot seem to wake up, however I know you would not expect anything less from us but to continue living life as best as we can, maintaining a positive perspective. Notice came on the day of the funeral. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Carlton. I had the honor to know and work with him while employeed with the Sheriff's Department. I am at a total loss of words. He touched everyone he came in contact with. I will always remember Carlton for his bright smile and his signature laugh.

Hi:
On Monday, Oprah had a guest who had lost a son. The woman felt as though she was in a black hole and couldn't seem to find her way out. She happened to see another mother on the show who had just lost her son - and because this mother could articulate her feelings just 3 weeks after losing her son, it gave the mother watching the strength to go on. The two ladies finally met on the show. The mother who was able to speak about losing her son said to the other "It will never be okay but it will be alright".
Remember, it's okay to cry and it's okay to laugh because you will always remember the joy that Calton gave to you. Every time you look at your grand daughter you'll remember, see and have a part of him.
God, though it may not seem like it at the time, never puts more on us that we can bare. He knows our future and he knows what is best for each of us. So, while it is a painful lost for us who remain we don't know what it would have been like had Carlton remained. God never makes a mistake!
