Carol Ann Stadum died comfortably at her home in Richmond, California on Friday, August 7, 2021. She was born on December 20, 1938 in El Cerrito, California. She attended El Cerrito High School and married her high school sweetheart, Edward Stadum in 1955. Carol lived her entire life in the Bay Area, riding horses in the Marin headlands, working as a 'hot walker' at Bay Meadows. enjoying Irish coffees at The Buena Vista and martinis at Balboa Cafe. A later-in-life graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Communications, Carol worked at UCSF with the Health Sciences Special Service Program introducing underprivileged prospective students to the possibilities of medical school and as a teacher in the San Francisco school system. Her life's greatest joy was raising her daughter as a single mother in the Mission and Cow Hollow neighborhoods of San Francisco. Carol is survived by her daughter, Molly Stadum, and two granddaughters: Avery and Chase.
Her family will be holding a private service to honor Carol's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Carol Stadum be made to Sierra Sonoma Equine Rescue Rehab & Adoption, 1971 Crane Canyon Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 serraequinerescue.org or to The Milo Foundation, 220 S. Garrard Blvd, Richmond, CA 94801 or milofoundation.org.
