Please know that I am so sorry to hear about Caryl. We had many wonderful times & years together in Iowa City, Florida and Georgia (since 1968) Once a true friend, always a friend. Craig, I know it is hard but, think of something beautiful and warm about Caryl when you can-it will bring a smile.

We are so saddened to learn of your loss. Caryl was a high school classmate in Vinton, IA. We remember her courage in choosing to be an exchange student to Switzerland her junior year; I believe it solidified her love of the French language and culture. In her memory, the Class of '62 will donate a book to the Vinton Public Library. Please know we extend our sympathy to you all.

My sincere condolences. I knew Caryl from West Georgia, where she was a supportive chair, colleague and friend to Nigel Smith, and a huge support to me during some very challenging days in my move to Carrollton. What a kind, bright, and wise woman. - Bill Hight

Dear Craig, Linda and I were just informed of Carol's passing by my mother, Erdine. It is hard to think of her gone since I still have so many memories of the good ole college days and our long chats in the Columbus College cafeteria and at gatherings at your place. I occasionally run across the McGovern '72 button and reread your "Sunbelt Odyssey." We hope memories such as these sustain you in your grief.

To Craig, with whom Bill and I shared dinners at SEASECS meetings with Caryl,
We are shocked and saddened to hear of Caryl's passing. She was a cherished friend and respected colleague for many years, at Columbus State, the University of South Alabama, and West Georgia. Many of us worked closely with Caryl on SEASECS and AATF-Alabama projects, and remember her fondly. I particularly appreciated the fine research articles she contributed to various anthologies that I edited: she will be sorely missed.
Craig, please know that we share your pain and offer our sincere sympathy to you and her loving family. May you soon find solace in the many happy memories of your wonderful times together,

I was a student of Dr. Lloyd back in the 80's, though my favorite memory of her wasn't about school. I went with her to car shop and she scared the poor salesman by crossing Macon Rd. in heavy traffic with the precision of an arrow through trees. She bought that very car, a Honda Accord, and I will always remember her when I see one like it. You'll be sorely missed, mon ami.

Best wishes,

I was so sad to hear of Dr. Lloyd's passing. I took French at Columbus College many years ago, and her classes were always fun as well as educational. The memories of her classes have stayed with me all these years. She loved to share not only the language of France, but also the culture. She helped to give all of her students an appreciation of all things French. She will truly be missed.
