Charles Balestrero Obituary

Charles P. Balestrero Died October 24, 2009 at his home from mesothelioma. Mr. Balestrero had been in declining health for approximately a year. He was admitted into hospice care on August 1st. Mr. Balestrero was an electrician for 46 years and a resident of San Carlos for 70 years. Hs wife, of 50 years, Helen L. Balestrero passed away 16 years ago. He worked in the shipyards during the war and was very proud of that service. He became a foreman on many commercial electrical jobs and his employers kept trying to talk him out of retiring when he was 67 because he was so accomplished in his profession. He was a life long member of the Foresters of America. His hobbies were bowling and golf. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants and loved watching Tiger Woods play golf. His companion for the last several years was Marion Berg of Belmont with whom he shared many wonderful times. He is survived by his two sons, Dave Balestrero of Redwood City and Dan Balestrero of Los Angeles and his sister Rose of Redwood City as well as 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm with a Funeral Service at 12 pm on Friday, October 30 at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel, 1111 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, where he will be laid to rest by his wife of 50 years Helen Balestrero.
