CHARLES CLAUSEN Obituary

Charles "Bob" Clausen Passed away peacefully from a broken heart on May 8,2012. Devoted husband of 56 years to Mary Clausen (deceased April 17, 2012); loving and caring father to Christina Clausen (Denise), Gregory (deceased) Clausen (Linda), Brian Clausen (Rachael) and Amy Clausen (deceased); proud grandfather of Connor Clausen; son of the late Charles and Ruth Clausen; brother and brother-in-law to the late Richard and June Clausen and William and Maureen Hourigan; uncle to Nancy Redner (Al), Kathy Murray (Fran), Ginni Claffey (Paul), Julie Zierolf (James) and many other nieces and nephews. Bob moved to San Francisco from New York in 1939 with his parents and graduated from Mission High School in 1948. Bob served honorably in the US Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. When he returned to San Francisco, Bob met the love of his life, Mary, and they started their life together. After a long and successful 33-year career at PG&E, Bob retired in 1991, and he and Mary were able to travel the United States. Bob was an avid reader and history buff and was especially interested in WWII history. Bob was a talented writer and enjoyed writing short stories, poems and was working on a novel when he passed away. Bob was the treasurer for the St. Paul's Father's Club in San Francisco for many years. He volunteered as a counselor for San Francisco Suicide Prevention and generously donated to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association. Bob was a long time 49er and Giant's fan and enjoyed watching their recent victories. Most of all, Bob was a devoted family man who always put his family first. He will be missed, but family and friends can take comfort in knowing that Bob and Mary have been reunited. Family and friends may visit Friday, May 18th, after 10:30am and are invited to attend the funeral service celebrating Bob's life at 12:30pm all at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City. Burial to follow at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
