Charles Worthington Robertson
December 29, 1921 - August 25, 2021
Charles Worthington Robertson passed away peacefully with his son, James Worthington Robertson, at his side in his Hillsborough, California home on August 25th, 2021, at about 9:30 A.M. at the age of ninety-nine. Charles was born in Washington, D.C. on December 29th, 1921, to Alphonse James Robertson, head astronomer of the United States Nautical Almanac Office, and Martha Piatt of Chillicothe, Ohio.
Charles graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1942.
He joined the United States Marines and was commissioned a Lieutenant on July 28th, 1943. He participated as a Marine in the invasion of Saipan Island which took place from June 15th to July 19th, 1944. He was an aerial artillery observer directing naval and marine gun fire. He remained on Saipan Island preparing for the invasion of Japan with other Marines.
After the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Japan surrendered, he toured Nagasaki and the surrounding country with imbedded journalist with the United States Marines to report on the completeness of the Japanese surrender. He was promoted to Captain in the Marines and was honorably discharged on March 14th, 1946.
Thereafter, he attended Georgetown Law School graduating in 1949. He married Nancy Jean Corbett of Honolulu, Hawaii on June 21st, 1949. He became a member of the State Bar of California and practiced law in San Francisco for over sixty years.
Charles Robertson is survived by his three children, his seven grandchildren and his three greatgrandchildren who are as follows:
James Worthington Robertson of Eugene Oregon and his children, Eric Robert Robertson, Keith Avery Robertson, and Laura Jean Robertson;
Ann Piatt Stevens of Penn Valley, California and her child, Corbett Alexandria Stevens;
John McVicar Robertson of Sidney, Australia and his children and grandchildren who are Sarah Samuels and her children, Clara and Archer of Canberra, Australia, Carly Robertsonball and her son, Eugene of Sydney Australia, and Ian Robertson of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Services for Charles Robertson will occur on Thursday, October 26th, 2021, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Burlingame, California at 10:00 A.M.

Robertson Clan: I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Robertson was a very nice boss. He lived a very full life! I worked for his law firm in the 70's.
