Retired Lt. Charles LeSassier Rowbatham, Jr., USN, an All-Weather Day & Night Interceptor Jet Pilot, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the age of 80. Born and raised in New Orleans, Chuck attended LSU's School of Engineering before enlisting in the Navy. White stationed at the Alameda Naval Air Station he met Theresa, his beloved wife of 55 years. Following his service in the Navy, they settled in Orinda where Chuck pursed a career in mechanical engineering for the next 33 years. Thereafter, he launched his own successful intermodal transportation supply company, retiring 10 years later. Chuck dedicated his life to helping raise their five children. He was happiest when spending time with his family. He could always be found front row and center at his children and grandchildren's sporting events, celebrations, recitals, concerts, school functions, and more. Chuck and Theresa's love of travel took them all over the world, often times with children and grandchildren by their sides. Chuck was an active parishioner at All Soul's Catholic Church in South San Francisco where he also sang in the choir directed by his wife, Theresa. He was not only a faithful husband, caring dad, and loving grandpa, but also a loyal friend and respected colleague. He made time for everyone, engaging them with his wit and charm. Chuck was truly a southern gentleman, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa; daughters, Kim Arnold (Jerry) and Gina Battisti (Steve); sons, Charles Rowbatham, III (Peggy), Stephen Rowbatham, and David Rowbatham (Shani); and, nine grandchildren, Alexis, Evan, Rachel, Nicholas Courtney, Hailey, Ashley, Alec, & Reece. He is the son of the late Capt. Charles and Vera Rowbatham, Sr., and the brother of Patsy Johnson (Jules), Ronald Rowbatham, and the late Capt. Kim Rowbatham. Chuck was laid to rest in New Orleans on May 14, 2013, with his Father and Mother.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, Saturday, June 8, 2013, 11:00AM, at All Souls Church, 315 Walnut Avenue, South San Francisco, 94080.
