Charles Robert Stuart grew up in Corte Madera and graduated from Tamalpais High School in 1958, a three sport varsity athlete. He then attended College of Marin and San Francisco State College. In 1963 he joined the Peace Corps. His two years in Liberia, West Africa, shaped his future as he continued a life of service at Mission High School, teaching history and civics for thirty-five years. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Mr. Stuart was my civics and history teacher. He was also my golf coach. He was funny and made classes fun. We hung out in his and Mr. Barton's office during lunch. He inspired me to become a teacher. Thank you, Mr. Stuart, for everything you taught me. I'm waving at you.

So sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. He was a great guy. I taught with him in the 90's when I was at Mission High. I also worked with him on the Herald Project. I always remember the special African handshake he taught me.

So sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. I knew he was in poor health from Marcy Ballard. I have many fond memories of working with him and sharing the Social Studies Office and sometimes his classroom.
