Christopher McCluney Obituary

Christopher McCluney
01/22/1949 - 09/07/2024
Chris passed away peacefully at his home in Larkspur, California on September 7th. Christopher Baldwin McCluney was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Jan. 22, 1949. He was the third son of Samuel McCluney and Dorothy Jane Leggett McCluney. He spent many happy summers with his older brothers and his cousins from Delaware. In 1964 the family moved to Ormond Beach Florida, living two doors away from his paternal grandmother.
Chris graduated from Tulane University with a degree in chemistry. While in college he developed an interest in spirituality and meditation which continued throughout his life. He married Katie Platter after college, and they moved to New Hampshire. They later divorced. Chris attended the University of Virginia and received an MBA. Chris moved to Marin County in 1986. He thrived in his new environment, developing many hobbies and making lifelong friends. He was a serious coin collector and collected and commissioned custom-made knives. He was an avid sports fan with a deep interest in boxing and Oakland A's baseball. He also picked up kayaking and loved being on the water. It was on a kayaking trip that he met his future wife, Teri Fung. They spent many happy years together before Teri sadly passed away from cancer. Chris remained close to the Fung family and travelled frequently to exotic places with the Fungs.
Chris is survived by his sister Mary Ann, cousins Pam Nimick and Chip Patterson and many second cousins. He also is survived by many members of the Fung family. Family and friends will celebrate his life with several private events.
