Claire Fitzpatrick Obituary

Claire Rita Fitzpatrick
Dec 25, 1927 - Feb 9, 2022
Predeceased by her loving husband William in Ireland in 1980.

Claire was the last born and last surviving child of John Young and Hannah Gleason. She was predeceased by her parents, her eight siblings and their spouses, her adored niece, Joanne Moore and two loving nephews, Dennis and Jack Gleason.

Claire was the loving mother of seven children. Peggy O'Donnell. (Dennis), Kathleen Reilly (Eamon), Bill Fitzpatrick (Petra), Helen Dolan ( Frank), John Fitzpatrick (Margaret), Timmy Fitzpatrick (Deirdre), Joan Fitzpatrick (Paul).

She was the adoring grandmother of 24 and so proud to be the great grandmother of 27 with 2 more on the way.
She was the devoted sister-in-law of Molly Fitzpatrick. She leaves many nieces and nephews in California and Ireland.

Claire was born and raised on Treat Ave. in the Bernal Heights neighborhood in San Francisco where she attended St. Peter's School. At St. Peter's, Claire made life-long friends.

In 1976, Claire and William moved to Loch Gowna, County Cavan, Ireland. For seven years she managed their pub and delighted customers with her lovely singing voice. They particularly enjoyed her renditions of The Patriot Game and The Town I Loved So Well.

Claire got so much joy from watching her grandchildren playing sports and Irish Dancing. She rarely missed a game or a feis. She loved a party especially if there was music.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, 1515 Holcomb Blvd., Houston, Tx 77030 or St. Peter's School, 1266 Florida St., San Francisco, CA 94110.

The family is especially grateful to Bridget Kelly and her staff at Westborough Royale in South San Francisco for the exceptional care that Mom received there. We would like to thank all of the numerous caregivers that assisted her over the past few years, especially Kathy Lesuma and Pasepa Wainiqolo for the wonderful care they provided for our mom in the last year. We would also like to thank Thomas Allan Rocas and his team at ANX Home Health and Hospice Care. They brought comfort to both our mother and us during the very difficult last few days of Mom's life.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00 at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 17th Ave., San Francisco on Thursday, February 17, 2022. The Mass will be live streamed to watch for anyone who can not attend. Please go to www.stcecilia.com and click on the link for live streaming.

All friends and family are welcome to join us at the United Irish Cultural Center at 2700 45th Ave. following the Mass. Proof of Covid vaccination is required for entry.
