Collin Fong Obituary

Collin Emerson Fong June 27, 1947 - Dec. 6, 2009 Our brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, and friend will be remembered always for his big, big heart and warm and generous spirit. He loved cooking for friends and family, ballroom dancing, horror movies, fishing, poker and dragon-boat racing. He adored children, especially his nieces, and was always ready with gifts for them - often ones he made himself. He always looked forward, never accepting defeat. Collin was born in Alameda, the eldest son of Lawrence Fong and Margaret Lam Fong. He lived in the East Bay, San Francisco and Marin County, graduating from Terra Linda High School. He studied psychology at San Jose State. He served in the Army from 1968 until honorably discharged in 1970. Collin worked as a bank executive, restaurateur, loan officer, travel agent, and more. He is survived by siblings Daryl Fong, Katharine Fong, Mark Fong and Tracy Fong Miyashiro. A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, Dec. 20, 11-1 at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 DeHaro Street, San Francisco.

My condolences to Collin's family at your loss. Collin was an inspiration to those who love life and enjoy it to the fullest. Despite the health hardships he had to endure, his positive spirit kept him going and cruising the ballroom floor. Thanks, Collin, for teaching me back in high school how to fish and to cook the catch (not that I've gotten any better!). Hope you're angling with the best of them up there. God Bless You.
