Connie Weber Obituary

Connie Weber
December 8, 1921 - March 29, 2023
Connie Ramirez Weber was born December 8, 1921 in Los Angeles and died in San Francisco on March 29th, 2023. The family was blessed to have her for 101 years.
Connie lived a wonderful life with her husband Joe Weber. She is survived by five children and nine foster children whom they raised on Shotwell Street in the Mission. Until her 100th year, She never missed a day of walking down Mission Street to greet friends and shopowners-- and to scold the bums that she saw along the way, advising them that working was always better than asking for a free handout. Shotwell street will miss seeing "the Mayor of Shotwell" sweeping the street daily. Her family remembers her with the quote from Shakespeare, "Though she be but little, she is fierce."
During Connie's life she worked at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard during WWII, she worked for the USPS sorting mail, worked at Mission High School as a para professional and worked with Catholic Social Services to foster nine children, one of whom she adopted. After she and Joe retired, they traveled the world and enjoyed watching their family grow.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Josefa Luna and Manuel Ramirez, both Mexican immigrants, her first husband George Hall, who died in WWII, and her husband of sixty years, Joe Weber, She is also preceded in death by her sisters Emma, Celia, Lupe, and brothers John and Robert. She is survived by her sister Aurora. Three of her children still live on the same block of Shotwell and continue to work hard to maintain the beauty and pride of the Mission District that they all love. She leaves behind her daughter Katherine, son Craig, daughter Jane Perry (Edward), son William, son Rod (Julie) and nine foster children. Her 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren will miss her smile, her wisdom, humor and generosity.
A Memorial mass will be held at St. Peter's Church,1200 Florida Street in San Francisco on Friday April 21 at 2pm. Donations in memory of Connie can be made to Albert Pastine, Inner Mission Neighborhood Association, at 1153 Shotwell Street to continue Connie's work keeping Shotwell beautiful.
