Craig Arnold Obituary

Craig Anthony Arnold
04/21/1943 - 10/12/2025
Craig Arnold, age 82, of Pajaro Dunes, CA, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Craig was born on April 21, 1943, in San Francisco to William & Winifred Arnold. Caring brother of Barbara and Tony. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bob. He is survived by his daughter, Anne (Shannon); his son, Steven (Hartley); and four beloved grandchildren. Born and raised in San Francisco, he attended Holy Name Catholic School and Archbishop Riordan High School before earning a Master of Arts and Doctorate in Education. Craig worked for over 40 years in California as a Teacher, School Psychologist, and Independent Consultant. Craig cared deeply for his students and was passionate about his purpose as a school psychologist.
Through his sister, Barbara, he was introduced to Cathy. Their two children, Anne and Steve, meant the world to him. Craig's favorite role, however, was being Papa to his grandchildren, Quinn (11), Ryan (8), Zoe (5) and Zander (3). He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Papa, never failing to indulge them in strawberry milkshakes, tickle rough-housing, swimming, and reading books.
Craig had friends from all walks of life. He would, and usually did, talk anyone's ear off - whether it was the waiter at Buck's in Woodside or old friends from Lompico. From the Bay Area to the Monterey Bay Peninsula, and beyond, he had many lifelong friendships.
Everyone who knew Craig knew how much he loved to read, travel, take cruises (over 25), indulge in a big Italian feast, and cruise around Monterey Bay in his BMW. He will always be remembered for his intellectual curiosity and his deep love for the ocean. Whether it was Doan's coconut cake or any ice cream flavor within reach, Craig couldn't resist dessert, and usually had second helpings, punctuated by his signature line: "Who wants BIG D?" We will miss Craig every day. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all those who loved him.
His funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Avenue in San Mateo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. God bless Craig.

Craig was my mentor at PVUSD. He continued to put himself into my important life changes of retirement and generosity of his spiritual life. I appreciate his warmth and commitment to loving others with a personal connection forever. May Craig rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will miss Craig´s many consultations and visits that we had weekly at one of the tables in front of Staff of Life in Watsonville. He was one of my best and few friends. We laughed a lot and surprised each other often with "Consumer Alerts", which were mentions of good places to eat or conservative material purchases. His listening skills, advice and support were always so valued. He had such a good analytical mind. Also having tea overlooking the ocean at the end of his building on benches that were protected from the wind is a very special memory. May the energy of his kindness and caring for us all remain and continue to add to the temporary nature of our existence. His impact was far reaching, uplifting, and indestructible.

I just heard the news, and all the fun memories are luring in my head...Craig was such a fun person to know, and be around, he had you laughing all the time. Lompico cabins weren´t far apart and Craig loved to swing by and have toast on the way to the pool.
I mean who could resist Craig..I send you love and wish your families my deepest condolences. Here´s to bubble gum Craig. So
