David West McMurdo, 64, passed away on August 6, 2013 at The Elms Assisted Living in San Carlos.
Dave was born in San Francisco on December 6, 1948, relocating to San Mateo at the age of two where he resided for most of his life. He attended Albion H. Horrall, Bayside Middle, and San Mateo High Schools, and attended the College of San Mateo. He went on to complete the Plumber's Union Apprenticeship Program and belonged to UA Local #38 in San Francisco.
Dave married and raised three children. He loved animals, enjoyed panning for gold and camping with family and friends. Throughout his life, Dave loved sports, especially the Giants. He was sensitive, positive, had a great sense of humor and was realistic. Though a medical condition altered his life, he didn't complain and dealt with whatever came his way. He enjoyed his adaptive P.E. and Dance classes (participating in their yearend dance programs) at the College of San Mateo.
Dave is survived by his two children, David and Allie McMurdo, his former wife Denise McMurdo, his mother Mary McMurdo, his sister Kathie and brother-in-law Bill Gonzales and many, many wonderful friends.
Dave is preceded in death by his father Jim McMurdo, his sister Janet Hakey, and daughter Michelle DeShazo.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on August 24, 2013 at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home at 977 South El Camino Real, San Mateo.
