Dolores Woo

March 7, 1932 - November 20, 2016

Dolores passed away peacefully on November 20, 2016 at the age of 84. Dolores Woo was born on March 7, 1932 in San Francisco to Lily Fong and Lee J. Poo. Following her graduation from Galileo High School, she attended the City College of San Francisco, where she met her husband, Wilbur Woo, in 1949. The two of them were happily married on August 21, 1955. Together, they raised a family of four beautiful daughters.

Throughout her life, Dolores loved traveling the world with her family and friends, watching Broadway musical productions and plays, and cooking and trying new foods. Dolores will be remembered for her fantastic sense of humor, her unconditional and unrelenting optimism, her mental fortitude, which kept her family together even throughout some of the most challenging of times, and her love for mah jong.

A funeral service and celebration of life reception will be held in Dolores' honor on Friday, November 25th, 2016. The funeral service will begin at 10:00AM at the McAvoy Evergreen Mortuary, located at 4545 Geary Boulevard (on Geary between 9th Ave and 10th Ave). Following the service, at 11:30am, the family will be hosting a celebration of life dim sum reception at Ton Kiang, located at 5821 Geary Boulevard (on Geary between 22nd Ave and 23rd Ave).

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dolores' honor to one of the following charities: Donaldina Cameron House (920 Sacramento Street, San Francisco, CA 94108), American Cancer Society (PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123), or the National Kidney Foundation (131 Steuart Street, San Francisco, CA 94105).

Dolores was predeceased by her daughter, Lynda Woo. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Woo, her sister, Shirley Lee-Poo, her daughters, Kimberley Woo (Randy, son-in-law), Debbi Lew (Steve, son-in-law), and Wendy Woo, and her grandchildren, Jennifer Hom Chen (Chris, grandson-in-law), Stacey Hom, Brian Hom, Amanda Lew, Alyssa Lew, and Ian Davis-Woo.
