Donald R. Thompson
August 29, 1937 – May 20, 2014

Don passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 20 at the age of 76. Born and raised in San Francisco, Don attended Lowell High School and City College. While serving in the Army Reserve he went to work for Hewlett-Packard, where he spent more than 40 years in a variety of supervisory positions at the corporate headquarters in Palo Alto. Don moved his growing family to Pacifica in 1967. He was a fixture at Good Shepherd School where he served as president of the Parent-Teacher Group, helped to start the CYO program, and coached boys and girls basketball. Don enjoyed spending time each summer in the beautiful Russian River town of Rio Nido. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Carla (Musetti), brother-in -law Joe Howell, and brother in-law and sister -in-law George and Carole Berthold. He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years Carole, son Don Jr., daughters Karen (Dave) Charos, Stephanie (Chan) Borland and Nancy (Bill) Bagdon, grandchildren Alex, Danny, Katie, and Meghan, brother and sister -in-law Rich and Claudette Thompson, sister Sandra Howell, brother in law Larry Musetti, and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Home Sweet Home for their exceptional care of and kindness towards Don during his last few years. All those who knew Don will remember him for his good humor and kind disposition and will miss him very deeply.
A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, May 30th at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma, CA.
