Doris Julia "June" Peterson

Doris Julia "June" Peterson passed away peacefully on May 13, 2021, at the age of 101. June was born in Colma, California on June 17, 1919 to Joseph J. Lagomarsino and Della K. Lagomarsino. She was a life-long resident of San Mateo County. June grew up on the Lagomarsino violet farm in Colma, which for many years was one of the largest in the United States.

After graduating from Jefferson High School in Daly City, June worked at the carpet and furnishings company D. N. & E. Walter & Company for over 25 years, starting in the sample department and working her way up to management secretary. She then went to work for Van Waters and Rogers in Brisbane, first as a secretary and then as a fabric buyer.

In 1946, she met Philip R. Peterson, who also worked at D. N. & E. Walter & Company. They were friends for many years and they married on May 25, 1968. June and Phil spent the next 52 years sharing their love of gardening, travel, and the outdoors together.

June is survived by her loving husband Philip, niece Lois Ann Erasmy, nephew Albert Lagomarsino, and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces, nephews, and god children. June was preceded in death by her brothers Edward, Dean, and Lloyd Lagomarsino, her niece Della Gollehon, and her best friend of more than 70 years Corrine Morbidelli.

On her 100th birthday, June celebrated this amazing milestone with family and friends who came from near and far. Former San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane and San Bruno Mayor Rico Medina presented her with a birthday proclamation from the San Bruno City Council. She was also the family "historian," having an extensive collection of family photos and milestone mementos, and she always knew what everyone in her large extended family was up to. She loved hummingbirds, and had over 100 items with hummingbirds displayed in her home. She was the "glue" that held her extended family and friends together, and we will greatly miss her fighting spirit, sense of humor, and playful nature.
