I am coming late to this news. I was searching for old friends from Saudi and sadly came across this news. Dorothea and I were in the same orientation class for employment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh way back in 1984. Oh the fun times we had with our group! I can still hear that beautiful laugh. I left a short 2 years later to return to the States for law school and to marry my dear Jackie who was also on our group in Saudi. So many memories packed into those 2 years! Dinners out, hash-runs in the desert.... I'm just sad that we lost touch. Never got to share our joy of 3 children (and subsequent 5 grandchildren) with her. Don't let dear friends get away. I am just so saddened by this, even 13 years after her passing. We love you Dorothea. Thanks for brightening up Riyadh for us! Rest in peace.

Dear Dorothea,

I miss you so much. I haven't been able to write until now. It's been a tough year losing both you & my Mom & so close together. I am sure you have met by now in that wonderful new home. I lit my home candle for you today,---and am thinking of many great memories--that New Year's night in North Beach wheeling you around in the wheelchair(what fun!), my 50th party that you & John surprised me with, those working days at Cal Pac, our get togethers when you came back for visits ( I love my earrings & locket)-you were so good with just the right gift. You were always there for me when I had an asthma attack. I wish I could have been there for you. Wish you could have come to see our new home. It's a beautiful place but I still miss our times in SF. Bye for now. Thank you so much for your friendship & you will be in my thoughts often. My condolences to your family. I know it hasn't been easy.
Love ya, Joyce

From 1992 - 1996 at King Faisal Hospital, Riyadh we were a small group of women who called ourselves THE SAUDI GOLDEN GIRLS.We were survivers, always laughing and planning things to do. They were the best of times and memories keep us close. You were a forever friend - Maggie

Dorothea-Thank you for your sweet unwavering friendship in the uncertain world we shared in Saudi. There are many moments to remember, in the hospital with the children, going out, surviving--better than anyone I can think of, your spirit intact, enjoying the richness of life. Once you told me, "When you go to Paris for the first time, go with someone you love." Cari Milby Booth

Dorothea will be remembered by everyone who has had the privilege of meeting her, especially the Saudi expat community. She was a wonderful, happy and caring person. As you share the stories and the memories of how she lived her life and how very much she meant, may you find comfort and throughout this difficult time, may you also know the deep sympathy and concern that is felt for all your family.

I am so sorry to hear of Dorothea's passing. It was such a pleasure working with you, Dorothea. I could always recognize your cheerful voice on the phone before you even announced yourself. Kaiser and the world has lost a wonderful colleague. I'll miss our 'tele-giggles'. You made work fun! Peace and joy to you in your new "home".

I am truly going to miss Dorothea. I remember one day at work, she and I joined hands and skipped down the hall singing, "Hail, Hail The Gangs All Here". Our co-workers thought we had lost our minds, they roared in laughter.

My dear Auntie,

You were a kindred spirit and very much a mentor to me throughout my life. Thank you for your encouragement, your advice, and the many happy times we shared together. Your memory will live on in me and my daughter so that generations from now, children in this family will still be looking at photos and telling stories of your life, wishing that they too could have known you.

See you in my dreams,

Nancy

DD erkkk! How can you leave so suddenly without us getting to see you again? Heard by the grapevine you won an all expense lifetime paid trip to the New World Resort that has everything you ever dreamed of. Wow cool.. good for you…You deserve it. It was wonderful being able to share some moments with you. We will always remember the great times together, the laughs, and the fond memories of Riyadh Saudi Arabia, your theatrical plays, the SF Bay Area and of course that infamous Kenya Safari.
