Dorothy C. Thigpen In San Mateo, CA on January 22, 2006. Born in Pittsfield, MA on November 26, 1923. She started her real estate career with Cockcroft and Co., worked for Grubb & Ellis, and sold her last piece of property at age 71 as a broker for Coldwell Banker. As a result of her many years in real estate, she published a poster titled Murphy's Real Estate Laws. An avid artist, she studied water color with artist George Post and worked in collaboration with her son Doug creating cast bronze animal figures. Much of her art work was based on her world travels that included riding a camel in Egypt.\ Dorothy was a long time member of the San Francisco Junior League. She was predeceased by two husbands, Arthur H. Ostrander then William Rembert Thigpen, and had been formerly married to Bill Burkhart of Bellingham, WA. At Dorothy's request, no services will be held. An Open House for friends will be held on Saturday, February 25th between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Burlingame. Memorial donations are suggested to the Burlingame Library Trustee Fund, 480 Primrose Road, Burlingame, CA 94010 or HIP Housing, 364 South Railroad Ave., San Mateo, CA 94401.
